For Adrian Houser there was no better transaction this past offseason than when Jesse Winker got shipped out west to the Mariners. Winker was 9-for-21 with 5 home runs off of Houser. The question remains, did the Reds simply replace Houser’s kryptonite with an equally fearsome batter? Colin Moran is currently 8-for-12 with 2 home runs against Houser. We’ll see how that matchup further evolves this summer.

Reds starter Hunter Greene is getting his first extended run as a starter at the MLB level. So far he’s racked up some strikeouts with an arsenal that includes a 100+ mph fastball, but he’s also struggled with the long ball (5 home runs given up in 18.0 innings). Here is Greene’s 2022 game log (listed starting with his most recent appearance):

Today's lineup:

2B Urías
LF Yelich
SS Adames
1B Tellez
RF Renfroe
C Narváez
CF Taylor
3B Peterson
DH Hiura

Swapping Yelich and Adames makes sense considering the power binge Adames is on. Fun to see Rowdy in the clean-up role. I kinda figured they'd rest a bunch of the regulars today, but only Wong, Cain and Cutch are getting breathers.

Rather than getting a rest day, Urias leading off and playing second three games in.  Must be feeling well.  His "spring training"/rehab assignment numbers were poor, and I guess they really meant nothing based on the quality ABs the past two games.

This is not a day I'd play Hiura necessarily. Just shivering at the thought of him trying to make contact with a 101 mph Greene fastball. Despite his struggles against right-handers, I actually would have liked to see McCutchen in the lineup with his still-elite fastball hitting abilities.

I watched every Shuckers game he played in: relaxed and casual and avoiding injury. BUT, in a pinch, he made incredible plays at third base. What I saw, was a batter getting comfortable in his 'in the box' routine. But, yeah, I wouldn't read one iota into his output in Biloxi.

The Reds would lose to the Washington Generals right now.

Went for a short walk to enjoy the spring weather, came back, and... um... yeah...

On the flip side, I went to pee and missed Yelich's homer. So you stay put and I'll drink more.
