Bucks vs Celtics series thread

I'm not even sure how much retooling they can really do. They have almost no tradeable assets or spending power. They'll be lucky just to hang onto Portis. They've hitched their wagon to their Big 3. Maybe there's some incremental under the radar moves they can do to upgrade their bench, but for the most part all they can really do is run it back with Giannis and Khris and Jrue and hope for better results next time.

They can't do much without trading Lopez and even that would be complicated.  I think they bring back Portis and PC comes back I don't see either turning down their player options.  I also don't see the Bucks being able to add anyone in FA as they are already over by about $50m.  The only way I see them bringing in someone new would be by trading Lopez and I am not sure that will happen or what the Bucks could get.

I think the Bucks will bring back Nwora though I wish they would play him more if they are going to do this.

Doesn't Portis have a player option for $4 million? Now that the title shine is gone, I'd imagine he declines that for big FA money. He can certainly get more than $4 million.

Not sure what to do with Lopez. The blogosphere is cold on him right now and he did look gassed, but he also missed the entire season. I doubt he was in the best shape. He's an old big though. He probably has some value but not in the role we're used to.

Obviously we won't be able to expect too much of any offseason changes to what we've got now. But I do hope some changes are made so that Giannis isn't having to handle as much of the workload as he is.

I mean, having your second best player who also in a perennial all star healthy would be a good start to address this.  Giannis is at his best with the ball in his hands, he's not a guy that's worth much on the offensive side of the floor without the ball.  Finding a way to add an offensive minded combo guard and getting more athletic bigs would also be very nice.

I don't agree with the Giannis must have the ball part.  While Giannis did start a lot of offense with the ball in his hands, our offense was best when the ball was moving around with drives and cuts (often ending with Giannis making an uncontested dunk).  The offense often stagnated when people were standing around watching him drive.  Giannis-Halliday pick and roll combo was also quite effective.

Middleton's defense allowed others to guard someone of less quality, as well.  For as much as Middleton got credit for his offense, his defense was also a key, as well.  The rotation and also the amount of rest was changed.  Giannis and Jrue could get another breather and for a longer period of time when Middleton was in there..... never seen our team look as tired as Game 7.

His absence affected all phases.

I thought Dallas and Miami would meet in the finals at the start of the playoffs, but I'll admit I abandoned that thinking when the Suns won the first games against Dallas.

I like Miami over Boston.  Boston was almost as tired as we were, it seemed, in Games 6 and 7.   I think Miami can do it in 6.

I like Dallas over Golden State even more.  I don't like the size of Golden State or its toughness.  If they are off from 3, anybody can beat them handily.  That is their whole game.  I also think Green and Curry are punks.  They are living off past glories... too cocky and full of themselves.  Simply not as good as they used to be.  I like Dallas in 6.
