Before the walk, I almost thought Lauer could have started the 8th.

Me too, but still a really nice outing....again.

Why we'll end up giving him as much time as possible to get out of his offensive slump

Just the fact that the guy is performing in CF in the final year of a big contract as a 36 year old is a huge win. More than 50% of the time, a team is writing off this year as a cost of doing business for the first 3-4 years of the contract.

I hope the Brewers return Hiura to Nashville & keep Brosseau on the big league team

I would be happy with a change of scenery trade for Hiura too

Im tired of his poor at bats & numerous strike outs

Small sample, but Brosseau is carrying a .375 OBP.  We know he'll hit with a little bit of power, and can play just about anywhere in the field.  If he keeps taking walks, he's going to have a role in the offense.

Eric Lauer is good at pitching

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Hard to believe a mere 21 months ago I declared Lauer was the most boring pitcher I'd ever watched.  It felt like he was taking 45 seconds between missing the zone with 85 mph fastballs.  Other than perhaps Burnes, he's the most watchable pitcher on the staff.

Not too mention we have Turang beginning to pound on the door in AAA....

LOL

Like, in 2004, I could have said that "other than [sic] PERHAPS Ben Sheets, Doug Davis is the most watchable pitcher on the staff" (even then Chris Capuano was interesting).

Trade for Buxton? @Brock Beauchamp

Eh, there are folks on this board that will still try and convince you that Houser isn't a starting pitcher and should be in the pen.

Yeah. And we're not even that far removed from the arguments about Hader being converted into a starter....Gotta admit, I was one of those people. Thought he was our one chance of developing an ace pitcher. Could never have imagined.....

Sadly, there is a lot of this year left.

At some point, he'll hit the IL, followed by a couple more trips to the IL.

By the end of the year that Renfroe deal might look pretty good.

JBJ’s OPS is actually lower in 2022 than it was last year. However, his OPS+ this year is currently 42 compared to last year’s 34.

I think that is an exaggeration.

No one has said that in quite some time, but when they were saying it, it appeared to have some truth.  I was not one of the guys saying it, but at that time, he had come off pretty successful time in the bullpen.

What do you think of Urenas, Milner and Boxberger?  ;)
