I'm amazed that we hit even one home run the past two days....Rowdy screwed again

Just tuned in. Saw it off the bat and thought it was long gone. Barely made the track.

Then I thought, maybe it was off the label or end. Nope. 107mph.

I'm guessing his 40% K rate (albeit in a small sample) has a lot to do with it.

Like you said small sample, but he can't hit lefties he is striking out at like a 50% clip vs. lefties why are the Brewers setting him up to fail is beyond me. He has a career OPS+ of 56 vs. lefties and 116 vs. righties. My point is if you just want a guy to hit lefties and play 1B. They are probably better off having Tyler White on the roster than Hiura if this is all Hiura is here to do.

Honestly, I'm kind of hoping at this point that Hiura is the position player that is sent down when Urias comes back. Not necessarily because of his results thus far, but just so the guy can get regular at bats. Justified or not, Counsell is doing him no favors right now.

I generally don't think CC is giving him much of a chance. He looked like a different player in spring training and then got some playing time but very sporadic and often got pulled early in games he started. I'm generally frustrated with this as Hiura can be an absolute game changer for the offense if he realizes his potential.

As far as LH vs RH splits, yes it's completely backwards statistically for Hiura to only start vs RH pitching. Hiura's usage to this point makes me hope he goes back down to AAA for a tune up, it's a disservice to him and the long term future of the team to keep him up here at this point.

I was a huge fan of Counsell early in his tenure, but lately he's very vanilla in his strategy and is just playing checkers like the other old school managers. I mean, he has a 7th inning guy, 8th inning guy, 9th inning guy...maybe CC and Ned Yost switched bodies or something

Enjoy listening to Tim Dillard more than Rock.  However, his comment last inning regarding auto strike zone and catchers good at framing...ughh.. Tim, not how it works. Framing will become a non-factor.  It records the pitch as it goes through the strike zone.  What the catcher does with the ball or how he moves his glove after that would not be important.

I thought that was what he was saying. That catchers who are good at framing will be “out of a job” (something of an exaggeration) because that skill wouldn’t have value.

Looks like it’s going to be up to the bullpen to go 3 scoreless innings for the Brewers to win.

Without Hader to finish that hasn’t been working well.

You forgot the part where the Brewers tack on 4 runs and Gustave pitches the 9th.

Yea that's a trend I haven't liked the last few years.    However, after word got out late last year of Hader refusing to pitch more than one inning along with how they moved the multi inning relievers (Burnes/Wood/Freddy) to the rotation it's somewhat forcing his hand

This is a slight exaggeration. Hader didn't outright "refuse". Rather, he and team management had a discussion and agreed that it is better for both him and the team to be used in one-inning spirts, as opposed to being used for multiple innings and then having to take multiple days off for rest.

I wish.

Too bad Adames went up looking to tack on 4 runs with one swing instead of looking to tack on a couple by going with pitches on the outside part of the plate.

That's even more embarrassing for Counsell if true, but i just don't buy that. I didn't know baseball players got to pick and choose how they were used while under contract. I think Hader prefers the 1 inning approach, mostly because he wants the saves and saves matter greatly in arbitration and will matter in potential future HOF discussion. That said, relievers don't get to pick and choose like that...that's not how the employee/employer relationship works

Can’t score 1 run or less and expect to win all the time. Still happy with 2 of 3 in Pittsburgh if it falls that way. Lineup needs to find a semblance of consistency.

The lineup has been very consistent with one aberration.

Phrase it however you want.   He and has agent told the team he wants to do 1 innings only.   Team agreed, here we are.   Keep in mind they had some contention over his arb eligibility and I'm sure he'd prefer to lock in a big multi year deal.  So he's having to play on one year deals.   I'm sure the team understands his view and don't want a fight, so they said Yes.

There was a game earlier this year, 1-2 run elad in the 8th with a bunch drama in the 8th when Williams was struggling and at like 35 pitches.    Hader never got up in spite of leftys coming.  The two out batter was a lefty and I think Williams was left in.   In the past tha'ts Hader to get 4 outs
