Quick question. I looked through baseball almanac and couldn't find anything on splits. If I wanted to find out Jenks OPS against righties, is there a sight for that? Or do I have to find that out by just looking at a bunch of box scores? Also, if I want to find out monthly stats, is there any way of doing that without consulting box scores? Thanks for the help.

An easy way to get to the type of link Brian produced would be to use the Yahoo! Brewers Batting link above, click on player's name, then click on the splits link. Also note that you can get to other Jenkins 'stuff' with the links on top (situational stats, etc.).

You can switch teams via a popup on the team pages. You can switch to other players on a particular team via popups on the player pages.

You should try out the Day by Day Databases also listed above. You'll have a ball. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

"Mainstream stats. ------Splits-----, situational stats, career stats, Batter vs. Pitcher numbers, and individual game logs are available on each player page."

Well, I feel dumb once again. I geuss since I've been on the stats pages at Yahoo a lot and never seen the splits link I didn't take the time to read the description you guys had. Thanks for the help guys.

The nice thing about the Yahoo splits are that they go back to 1987, where as with ESPN, you're forced to pick from only very recent data and not aggregate it all, if that player has a long-ish career (like Jenks)

That's exactly the type of tidbit that I was hoping to see a few of as this thread grows. Knowing when one site is better than another for a certain task is way useful. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

The ESPN news wire looks good. I wonder if it provides the same stuff as ESPN's RSS feeds.

Biz of Baseball looks like a great site. That reminds me? isn't there also a Business of Baseball site with CBAs and historical documents? I've poked around and it's not popping up now.

Of course, fangraphs is a must.

brewerjamie15 asked this question in today's game thread.

Didn't see this asked anywhere but is Hall nearing or made a record for most consecutive plate appearances reaching base? The Tigers have not gotten him out yet in the series.
I drive myself crazy trying to find answers to questions like that. Is there a site that neatly consolidates MLB, NL, and AL records?

The problem I run into while searching is that 'record' or 'records' brings up all kinds of W-L record stuff.

Maybe I didn't look hard enough for this in the links already provided, but where does one find stats by position - not exactly phrased pefectly, but you know what I mean, where do you find the stats you could plug into the sentence "NL Firstbaseman are hitting ____" this year?

Copying from a locked thread?

Aytumious:

Does anyone here have the link to the website that allows you to put in any players name then put in dates and get his cumulative stats for that time period? I'm pretty sure someone on here posted it originally.
brettac1:
Go to baseball-reference.com and pick a player. There's a pull down menu next to "Gamelogs", once you're there, you can click on a start date and an end date to sum the columns.

Example:

www.baseball-reference.co...25:936:sum

There is also the Day-by-Day Database at Baseball Musings:

www.baseballmusings.com/a...008676.php

Example:

www.baseballmusings.com/c...ayerID=235

ESPN.com has this. You go to team stats, then under splits choose which position you'd like to see. The stats for each team will be listed for players on the year at that position, then at the bottom it will list the cumulative totals for the NL, AL, and ML.

For instance, the Brewers have the highest OPS amongst 1B in the majors.

Another possible website is enth.com where such questions as

"Who had the most RBIs in the National League since 2004?"

"Who had the lowest WHIP in the NL in a season since 2000 with a minimum 200 IP?"

Can be answered

They call themselves "The Next Generation Search Engine."

Branching off of b19's milestone tracker, I found this stuff on mlb.com:

MLB.com Active Leaders

MLB.com All-Time Leaders

MLB.com Annual Leaders

MLB.com Single Season Records

MLB.com Longest Standing Records

MLB.com More Historical Stats

There doesn't seem to be anything sophisticated enough to answer Jamie's question above, though.

enth is really cool. For instance, this search?

bill hall tony gwynn corey hart 2007 ba obp slg ops
produces this chart:

Name Year ba obp slg ops

Bill Hall 2007 0.270 0.337 0.448 0.785

Corey Hart 2007 0.301 0.380 0.506 0.886

Tony Gwynn 2007 0.301 0.363 0.349 0.712[/pre]

Also, note the Baseball-reference.com thread. I'll eventually move it to Statistical Analysis to make sure it stays on the forum and it can be linked to from the FAQ.
