EDIT: It appears the Pirates made a change this afternoon and will now start LHP Dillon Peters against the Crew. Peters has been fantastic for the Pirates this season, but hasn't thrown more than 43 pitches in an outing to this point.

After one night in Pittsburgh the Brewers team wRC+ went from 75 to 82 moving them from ranking 28th in MLB up to 24th. Willy Adames was the top performer entering the night with an 85 wRC+ and finishing the night with an unbelievable climb to a 130 wRC+ on the season.

It would be nice if the Brewers could leave town with a couple more hitters surpassing the league average (100) wRC+ mark.

The good news is the Brewers hitters have had some previous success against today’s Pirates starter, Bryce Wilson. In his previous three starts against Milwaukee he has a 6.23 ERA, and Brewers batters have tagged him for a batting line of .300 BA / .357 OBP / .560 SLG for a .917 OPS.

I rather enjoyed the brewers winning a game 12-8.    Thank god for the pirates

Let's get the best of both worlds now, and win 12-0 today.

Was Ashby always the intended starter today? Did I lose track of the rotation order?

Yeah. Right now, they're using Ashby to ensure that each starter gets 5 days rest between starts. When off days intervene there is no need, but since Peralta, the next guy up in the rotation order, pitched last Friday, they are inserting Ashby to get him that extra day's rest.

Brewers site lists LH Dillon Petters as the Pirates starter tonight rather than Wilson.

He's also listed as the starter on BRef. Looks like Peters has been lights out to start they year, 10 IP | 8 K | 4 BB | 1 H | 0 ER in five relief appearances.

Might be kind of an opener situation where Dillon goes a couple two tree innings then hands it over.

Yes, it appears the Pirates have made a change and are now going with Dillion Peters as tonight’s starter.

Gotta say, I'm mildly surprised (disappointed?) that we haven't heard anything about bullpen moves following last night's near-debacle. After all, what is the point of having guys like Milner and Urena on the roster if they can't hold down a 6 run lead against a AAA-type lineup and force you to burn your already oft-used closer? Maybe they're waiting until the May when roster sizes contract, but I was hoping to give guys like Perdomo (Luis) and Sanchez a shot at fortifying the back-end of the bullpen.

Isn't there a roster cutdown coming in a couple of days?

It boggles my mind that MLB is ok with the Pirates existing solely as a means to funnel TV revenue into their owner's pockets. Nobody would care if their attendance is zero for the entire season.

What channel is the game on Spectrum? The Bucks are on Ballys.

Did you find it yet?

I'm not seeing it.

Willy Adames waking up the echos of Ted Kubiak last night. Shortstop with a 7-rbi game. That stood alone as the Brewer record for rbis in a game for over 30 years.

I had remembered Kubiak as a 2b, so I looked at the stats. With the brewers, he played about 60% of the time at 2b and 40% at SS while being a full-time starter. I'm guessing they had a platoon with a 2b and a SS, and Kubiak played wherever they didn't?   Weird.
