Intriguing match-up tonight in St. Paul. This series has a ring of high high Level Triple-A action. I hope it meets my hype.?

Alexander gets the nod facing Dereck Rodríguez (House of Ivan Rodríguez) who, in two appearances in 2022 (1 Starts) has 7 ip and 10 k's, no runs surrendered, and a sub 1 WHIP.

I remember how much fun I had attending Saints games when I lived in the Twin Cities. There is an awesome jazz club (or was, I don't know if it is still standing - I sure hope so!) just down the road 'The Dakota Bar and Grill'. I saw former Jazz legend and drummer extraordinaire, Billy Higgins, with Charles Lloyd months before Billy passed. It was an incredible night of music. Here's hoping music and baseball aficionados can enjoy those double slates even today.

Russ Smith gets the nod again tonight after an extremely disappointing last Start in rough - cold and swirling winds - conditions. Hopefully, he gets back on track. I'll personally be looking for better body language after I saw quite a bit of slouching and frustrations in his last start as he struggled to get anything going.

We are already delayed in Grainger Stadium due to rains in the bottom half of inning One. 0-0 game as Jeferson Quero grounded into an inning ending double play after Eduardo Garcia took first base after a HBP.

I tell you I could get used to watching that top of the Biloxi order. They opened up inning one in nice fashion and Weimer ripped yet another double. It was 3-0 headed to the bottom of the second after Otero escaped a bases loaded jam by getting former Shucker, Hayden Cantrelle, on the punch out.

Having Wiemer, Valerio & Mitchell starting the year strong at AA has definitely been my favorite part of the young minor league season so far.

But tell me how you feel about Zamora’s three errors? ?

No comment on Zamora's fielding. It is one of my biggest disappointments. I can count on one hand the number of clean throws I've seen from him the season. A colossally perplexing talent.

WAIT! I commented. Darn!

OMG, Noah Campbell with a colossal blunder in LF on a sky high fly ball. He parked under it. Easy play. He just completely biffs it as he fails to close his glove. All 3 runners score. A fitting end to the way the Shuckers have been playing to date. This was Erceg's 6th unearned run surrendered to the Wahoos in his two outings versus them this season. Reetz then fails to hold onto a bang bang throw from Wiemer at the plate.

One word describes the recent string of play for the Shuckers: Frustrating ?

Yeah, at the beginning of last season I kind of had Freddy & David Hamilton in the same bucket as SS prospects, with a preference for Hamilton mostly because of the wheels.

Then when Freddy closed the season on a tear & they dealt David in the offseason I thought, well, the FO knows more about these guys than me so maybe my preference was off.

Now that Hamilton has started hot while Zamora has struggled out of the gates I’m back to thinking I know more than the FO ?

Well, Freddy has so much there. He has the frame. He's smooth. He's obviously athletic. BUT, he's also perplexing. He's shown a wildly erratic arm from everywhere in the hole. He also has a penchant for too non-chalant. He hasn't shown any pop, really, at the plate this season. He has been a conundrum for me and, I say that as someone who would love to see him succeed. As of right now he's a big IF for me.

Biloxi falls 4-7. What could have been an intriguing mini-rally fall short with Jakson Reetz stranded on second. Reetz hit what I thought was surely a back-to-back (Ashton McGee with his first knock of the season on a missle to RF) but it was lost in a white billboard at the wall in deep left center. He missed it by two feet and barely made it to second as he was confused as well. LOL. No white billboards, please.

Hopefully he can figure it out as the season goes along again & find his rhythm.

Purely scouting the stat line, but it looks like Turang is off to a nice start so that mitigates Freddy’s struggles somewhat. Also intriguing they’ve been playing him some in CF.

Turang is adding to his versatility tool kit for sure - interviews with Rick Sweet touch on this. BUT, he's also clear: he's a SS and is just trotting out there to add to his MLB toolkit. Turang has far and away been the better player early without question. He's been fantastic and reliable in the field and, heck, he is batting 13 of his last 26 at the plate. We're seeing more gapper doubles during this hot spell. He was 2-4 again tonight and knocked in the only run on another double.

The X-Factor, if you will, for me at least, is the development of Eduardo Garcia. IF, and this is a big IF as we just never know, he can cut those strikeout numbers down say 40-50% (that's a big ask - LOL - but he's very very young) he's the best talent in the system at SS. The kid is unbelievably savvy in the field. He has the power. He just needs more experience in the batter's box and more pitches. IF he can develop a meaningful approach as a hitter the sky is literally the limit.

Binelas is doing well too.

Damn you, Bradley! Why'd you have to suck so hard?
