Tonight's game is the perfect example of what is wrong with MLB.

The Phillies payroll is what, 100 million more than the Brewers?

That is just gross.

I’m glad I have a nice big screen TV so they can cram the game into about half of it.

I can turn off the sound so I don’t have to listen to Harper but I can’t get him off the screen.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I don't know why ESPN thinks we want to hear a several inning conversation with a player.

I like it, it's just that Harper isn't particularly interesting to listen to. I remember Wainright being a fun guy to listen to for a few innings.

But isn't that the point?  Do they not realize how boring Harper is?  It might be less awful if the player they were talking to was entertaining but he's not and it makes the broadcast worse in addition to taking up half the screen for no reason.

So is the average OPS+ 100?

This is correct. Higher is better, and the values are park adjusted. If a player has a .770 OPS in a neutral ballpark and the league average is .700, his OPS+ will be 100 * .770 / .700 = 110

It was sarcasm. ESPN showed that stat with every batter to begin the game. Nothing like oversaturating your telecast with pointless stat graphics. If I never have to see another Brewers game on ESPN it won’t be too soon.
