Carolina's dropped 3 in a row to Lynchburg, so needs a win today to salvage a 3-3 series split. The team's youngest pitcher RHP Miguel Segura takes the mound looking for his 3rd straight solid outing (1.35 ERA, 1.65 WHIP, 8.1 K/9 in 6 2/3 innings):

After sweeping yesterday's doubleheader, the High-A Timber Rattlers are now riding a 5-game winning streak. RHP Justin Jarvis (5 innings, 1 run (unearned), 2 hits, 2 walks, 2 Ks in his last start) tries to keep the good times rolling against Quad Cities. LF Tristan Peters (.310 AVG) has hit safely in 8 of 9 games this year:

Ahhhhh, yes. The Segura to Figueroa connect. Hopefully, the Muddies can turn this back to a winning result. If I'm not mistaken, this is Ferrer's first outing since he had the three error performance at the hot corner early in the season?

It's funny, Carlos Rodriguez got all the off-season pub and rankings but, early in this season, Triston Peters has been the surprise story. In addition to his plate performance he's played excellent defense in Left Field.

Ferrer had played third base the next two nights (0-5, 4Ks, walk; one more throwing error in the field), before getting a merciful break. Then he led off and played shortstop yesterday (1-3 with a double; no errors!). Let's hope the team re-discovers its offense today!

I think that Tristan Peters has no intention of being sent down to Low-A Carolina when Je'Von Ward returns.

RHP Luis Perdomo makes his first start since August 2020, as Nashville looks to close out Charlotte 5-1 in this week's series. DH Alex Jackson and 2B Mark Mathias each come into the game with 5-game hitting streaks:

2B Zack Raabe continues his surge for Low-A Carolina, with a double and single raising his AVG to .346 and OPS to 1.014. LF Micah Bello has also homered today (2nd of the year) as he tries to break out of a mini-funk. Unfortunately, the Mudcats trail 4-2 in the 5th inning.

It's Round 2 of Biloxi RHP Carlos Luna vs. Birmingham RHP Davis Martin, after Martin bested Luna 2-1 on Tuesday, in the first of four one-run losses the Shuckers have suffered to the Barons this week. CF Joey Wiemer went 3-for-4 yesterday, including a 3-run homer:

RHP Luis Perdomo threw 2 innings (30 pitches) for the Sounds before giving way to originally-expected starter RHP Dylan File. CF Brice Turang continues his solid contact, lining out in the first inning and hitting a ground rule RBI double in the 3rd to plate 2B Mark Mathias. It's 2-1 Sounds as they enter the 4th inning.

Again, I say it might be time to bring up Turang soon, particularly if Peterson continues his struggles at the plate to start the season. He's getting to the point where he's had more than enough AAA at-bats and could prove to be a valuable utility piece for this team with his ability to play CF, as well, if they think Cain has completely lost it. Unless, of course, they want to use him as bait for an even bigger fish...

RF Garrett Mitchell keeps up his recent hit parade, sending out a 2-run homer to give Biloxi a 3-1 lead in the 5th inning. Thank you Birmingham for removing starting pitcher Davis Martin after 4 innings.

2 more K's today for our tantalizing young Eduardo Garcia. That's 26 k's in 57 AB's on the season with a mere 3 walks. The youngster has some work to do at the plate. The tools are there but he is going to have to develop the toolkit.
