I truly long for the 80s and 90s style of baseball. Putting the ball in play. Hitting it where they ain’t. I don’t understand today’s game.

im sure someone will tell me about how they didn’t throw so hard in those days. Apparently some teams have figured out how to hit still.

Plenty of good hitters out there we just don't have any of them but wow that exit velocity must be at the top of the league.

This team is not fun to root for. Give me back all offense, no pitching. At least it was enjoyable to watch.

So there are things to be frustrated about, but if you have a few beers and smoke some mesquite BBQ during the game you can still have a good time. Go Brewers!

LOL. The downside is I now have 2 additional dependencies.  Does AA give "rewards"?

They didn't throw so hard in those days. Breaking pitches and change ups now are consistently faster than many 80s/90s fastballs were. That makes it much more difficult to hit the ball directionally. Sure hit it the other way they say, easier said than done when the pitcher is pounding 93 MPH sliders that are breaking in towards your hands,

Batting average across all of MLB is .230 so far this year. The lowest it was from 1980 to 1999 was .258.  Only three teams are above .258 so far this year, so I guess three teams have figured out how to get hits as well as an average team from 30-40 years ago.

I long for a date with 1980's Elle MacPherson from the cover of the SI Swimsuit Issue. Neither of our dreams are coming true.

The only options are to adjust expectations so they are line with the current reality or be disappointed forever longing for a past that will never re-materialize.

Go Brewers.

Must you always ruin everyone's hopes and dreams?

Did anyone else catch that Realmuto appeared to be upset with Adames’ slide into home?

I saw that too. Seemed like a reasonable slide tho.

I was too busy celebrating a 4-run inning!  It's like New Years for the Brewers.  Confetti is so hard to clean up when you're drunk.

I was upset that Realmuto didn’t get out of the way of the plate when there was no chance of a play at home. He could have injured Adames by still blocking the plate.

Go Brewers.

You are also forgetting that batting styles nowadays are basically going to made for more outs.  And defensive shifts.

I do agree that pitchers throw harder but I’ve spoken to many coaches and they acknowledge measuring pitch speed etc is a lot more precise.  I. E. The guns are better/inflated compared to the 80s

It’s just a different way of playing.   If they do end up getting rid of the shifts I do wonder if a team who tries to hit more liners (less launch angle) could score more runs against these pitchers

im not saying they would   It would be interesting
