One matchup to watch is Freddy Peralta facing off with Nick Castellanos. To this point Castellanos has been a complete thorn in Peralta’s side going 7-for-13 including 4 doubles, a home run, and a walk.

Another chance for the Brewers to face off against a southpaw starter. As bad as the Brewers were against LHP last year, they’ve been completely atrocious in a limited sample this season.

Here are the Brewers team splits against LHP from last year and this year:

The Brewers are guaranteed for some positive regression versus LHP at some point, and there’s no better time to start those improvements than the present.

One possible separator in this series could be defense. So far the Phillies are last in baseball with -7 defensive runs saved. Especially bad has been shortstop (-3), right field (-4), and first base (-2). The Brewers on the other hand are tied for 5th best at 7 team defensive runs saved. Not just “at Night” anymore.

Feels like we face a lefty starter every other game.

It's probably just one of those early-season coincidences, but honestly, if the Brewers can't actually start doing something against these junkballing lefties, teams are going to start adjusting their rotations (like the Cubs used to do) to make sure they are throwing all their lefties against this lineup.

Hopefully Freddy is ready to go.  I have the least confidence in him currently.

I still have PTSD from Freddy’s start in Philadelphia last May 5th when he gave up five earned runs including a grand slam to Didi Gregarious before recording a single out in the game.

Yelich hitting 3rd against a lefty, again ... hitting .195 currently.

I feel Counsell needs to move him way down in the order against lefties (8th or 9th) if Yelich continues to hit .240's or less ... maybe even sit him against lefties ... Yelich is not earning the status in the lineup he is receiving.

Who is the better option? They are all hitting like crap right now.

I see Luis is beginning his rehab assignment this weekend? ? Even better is he is headed to Biloxi. They need a bat to help their current lineup get over the hump. LOL. Great placement. Let's get a 'W'!

I was hoping to see Yelich resting, McCutcheon in LF, Hiura at DH, & Tellez at 1B

Yelich is 0 for 9 since his grand slam

Tellez has hit well against both RH & LH pitchers thus far (& last year too)

But I’m just a fan with an opinion - hopefully Counsell proves me wrong tonight

The brewers record is better than their performance so far.    Which is infinitely better than the other way around.    But I’d like to see what happens this series.

the Phillies can hit.    We can’t.   If the brewers are going to be good, peralta can’t be one foot in the being sent to the minors door to work things out

Dude just stop. Peralta is not in danger of being sent to the minors any time soon. It's been two flippin' starts, and his first one actually wasn't that horrible aside from the first inning home-run by suzuki. I swear, the complete lack of patience and understanding of the small sample size phenomenon from some of the people on this site is nothing short of astounding.

Option B is repeat option A no matter how many times until, hopefully, it works.

Take a look in a mirror.    Dude

before you get all high and mighty.      And maybe take a little time to understand what is actually written

Oh believe me. I took the time, and you clearly stated, "peralta can't be one foot in the door of being sent to the minors." He has absolutely no feet in any door of being sent to the minors. This is in addition to a post last week during the in-game thread (don't think it was yours) that asked, "how many options does peralta have left?" You made a ridiculous statement; own up to it.
