Again, this is not accurate. You will not find anyone who is taking for granted that we will be making the playoffs this year. You will, however, find people pushing back on the notion that our offense, as exemplified by a mere 10 games, is so horrible as to preclude us from being competitive, particularly when the exact same offense was good enough to win us 95 games last year. I actually agree that we need to add a bat or two in-season to maximize our chances.

The offense was good enough to make the playoffs, but we saw what that offense was good enough for when it really mattered...NOTHING!

No one is basing their opinion about the offense based on 10 games, it is being based on 172 games, plus a stinky horrible playoff series.

What has changed offensively from 162 games last year to have anyone think we are going to magically become an above average offense?

This offense is not good enough to carry us deep into a playoff run, most know that.

Pretty sure HRs are down league wide compared to same period last year. Might be weather. Might be all the humidors. Be interesting to see how that plays out.

I sometimes think that a lot of fans are just happy to get to the playoffs.

I felt that way when we started winning again, and made the playoffs for the first time in decades.

That time has passed.  Getting there is no longer enough.

I've accepted the fact that there's a good chance the Brewers will possibly never win a WS in my life.  I'm not going to demand, beg, plead, or be unhappy about my baseball fandom based on this.  Being a baseball fan, for me, includes the 162 games of the full season, and any bonus baseball that comes after it.

I'd love the heck out of watching a world series win, but I'm not going to diminish my enjoyment of baseball in the interim.

I am 100% with you @RoCoBrewfan. Things are much easier and breezier in my baseball world as a result...and, I still enjoy my Brewers games. Even when they aren't hitting the way we'd like, I know they can get hot when we least expect it.

I put me in the camp that I’m happy to win a division and go to playoffs.      Wild card is kind of a meh unless you win that game

but I do hate the crapshoot playoff narrative.    It dismisses a World Series win.     When the brewers win the World Series I’m going to celebrate as the best team in baseball.   Not just some luck

thise are competitive games not a computer simulation

I get what you're saying and understand it. For me, though, the Braves run last year actually increased my optimism of the brewers winning a world series in my lifetime. Nothing in their formula that we can't replicate.

Oh for sure.  I'm not giving up.  I'm just not "all or nothing".  If you can't enjoy the journey, you're in for a lot of angst and disappointment.  There's 32 teams every year.  That's a lot of losers.

Thought Renfroe got that one. Oh well, at least we can all take a bit of joy in the fact I have both of these starters in my 16-team fantasy league and am on the way to two quality starts.

RIP to my fantasy week.

Agreed. Though we ultimately faltered on offense and fell short of our expectations, last year was actually really fun for me, and I will treasure that experience forever. Will likely never see pitching that great again!
