Yuku cutover issues (Latest: Splitting/merging topics; cuss filter)

there are likely other new posts before the last one

I find a lot of times when I go back to the topic list after reading a thread, there's already a new post. Depends on who posted it whether I go right back into it.

I use the last post username to quickly determine if anyone has posted since me. Kindof a pain to have to open threads you posted in earlier and scroll to the bottom of them just to find that you're still the last post in each.

One more question/suggestion: is there a way to make "stay in topic" unchecked by default? It's nice to simply go back to the forum instead of backing out.

mothership, I just tested this about five times with both the post editor and quick reply. For me, the "stay in topic" checkbox remains the way I last used it.

That's a fair point, although now with Yuku if you remain in the thread after you post, the thread will be marked as read and you'll never have that problem again. Yay for automatically marking individual threads as read!

I still can't get the link thing to work for me.

I started the Neifi Perez thread in the ML Forum and had a link to his story to add. I clicked on the link box we discussed earlier and added the necessary information. Nothing appeared in my post.

Bernie,

What browser do you use? Internet Explorer?

That happened on ezBoard, too. But I don't think it happened over there until that push with the Digg stuff.

I'm sure this has been brought up but any chance we can get the dates and times of the posts right?

I know this was a weird glitch on EZboard but it would be nice if the date was at least right.

Edit: Nevermind I think I figured it out.

The forum defaults to central time. But logged in users can override that and choose any time zone they want.

Anyone else notice that the board seems to be loading much more slowly since the Yuku switch, at least occasionally? I like the new board, but it seems like the forums load a lot slower now...I'm on a high speed connection that is working fine with other websites, so that's not the issue.

Maybe this will clear up as some of the kinks get worked out.

Yep, EZBoard was slow at times, but I've noticed the new board ranges from regular (like ezboard was, sometimes slow, sometimes fine) to molasses. But, it's worth the wait. I'm starting to dig some of the new features and I like the over look of the board, plus the larger avatars.

hawing saw that last night, too, chuckie, but I haven't been able to see it. The problem is either intermittent, or it could be an IE-only issue. I'll send a PM to a Yuku staffer about it.

I had the same issue yesterday in Safari. I haven't tried Firefox yet, I'm guessing you can do that.

FTJ, which browser produces the issue for you? Are you missing the whole last post column or just the author's name?

I've seen the last poster's name disappear in one browser (Camino). There's some CSS that should fix that.

chuckie, it's been fine for me all along in Firefox. I just checked the page in Safari, and (for now), it's working OK for me. It turns out that it's fortuitous that I haven't gotten around to sending the PM yet. Now I can include your Safari information, too.

Casey -- I use Firefox -- I am missing that whole "last poster column"

Can you see it now, Joey? I use Firefox also and I can now see the "last poster" column--and I like that it's back.

I was just going to ask FTJ the same thing. I was seeing last poster information on the thread pages all along in Firefox, but it was missing in Camino.

The original intent was exclude 'last poster' information from the main page but retain it in the discussion lists. Apparently, in some cases, the code went a bit too far.

Anyway, I've changed the CSS to be a bit more restrictive. If you're not seeing changes, try going to the site skin page, hit the reload button, then try looking at a discussion list page. It's a much less drastic step than emptying your browser's cache to force changes to show up, although that's an option, too.
