The platoon at C & 3b are self explanatory. The CF one I think isn't cause Cain needs every other day off moreso cause Taylor killed lefties last year. I am not a fan of the platoon at 1st especially since Hiura has reverse platoon splits

Expand

I think the only platoon they should have right now is at 3B until Urias gets back.  I do not think they should platoon at C and definitely not at 1B.

Damn, I didn't realize Hiura had such an enormous reverse split.

Narvaez is career 777 OPS vs RHP & 615 OPS vs LHP.

Caratini is career 673 OPS vs RHP & 687 OPS vs LHP.

Narvaez also knows the staff better & with most starters being RHP should get most of the playing time.

How would you spilt up time at C?

Houser is going to have a gem today, I can feel it.  The big 3 have been suspect, Houser will be the guy to right the starting pitching ship!

Just not walking the first batter makes him the staff ace.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I don't think it is that uncommon to split the catcher duties based on your starting pitching vs, the opponents. Since the starting pitching is going to determine success or failure of the Brewers more than offense I would probably go that route.

I believe the Brewers and Twins will continue to face off 4 times every year which is what it has been in recent years so that part isn't changing

Ugh. I thought they would rotate it, but looking at it those "rivalries" appear to be a shotgun wedding with no divorce possible.  I'd be much happier if they just added a home/away for the "rivalries" (2 series) instead of 4 series per year.  But I guess the single city rivalries are just so important that we have to pretend a rivalry exists between the Brewers and Twins (or Seattle and San Diego, or Detroit and the Pirates, or...).  I'd much rather have Cleveland since we are the 2 teams with the longest WS win droughts in baseball.

It doesn’t have to be a strict platoon, but if you’re going to rest the number one catcher every 3 or 4 days anyway, might as well target the games against lefties.

There aren't many/any teams that still use the "primary catcher" model where the catcher starts 130+ games behind the dish. Many teams have a much more equal split in their catching duties than they had even ten years ago.

Wow, it's even more extreme than I thought when I typed this. Perez led baseball last season with 120 starts at catcher.
