Unless I’m mistaken they could have just dropped Renfroe instead of paying him. I’m pretty sure he was arbitration eligible and could have just let him go instead of paying him the 7 million or so that they did.

Between McCutchen and Renfroe we are paying I believe 16 or 17 million. Add that to our other outfielders and this team has at least 50 million tied up in an outfield that just isn’t good with only Yelich having any upside.

im sorry but after how we flailed away down the stretch and in the playoffs we didn’t do nearly enough to improve this offense.

You are completely mistaken. Renfroe was acquired after the non-tender deadline

So be it. Frankly I'm not surprised someone on here would be more in tune with that stuff than I, as the financial aspects and contractual and union-management details of the game  bore me to tears.

Apparently that's the case, but I would have a hard time seeing them make the deal, then simply dropping Renfroe.

Taylor has no upside? None?

The OF situation all comes back to Yelich & his performance since signing his deal, and Cain being less productive, which you pretty much had to live with since I doubt you could've signed him had you not gone five years.. I still feel getting out from under JBJ's last year was a terrific maneuver, and as others have pointed out let's not bury Renfroe after 4 games.

I’m not burying Renfroe but there is a reason why he is on his 4th team in 4 years.

I'm sorry but Cain shouldn't be pinch hitting for anyone.

I'm late to the funeral, but YES!  I was listening in my car and thought, "OK! Rowdy coming up with a man on. A 2-run shot could happen!" But before I could finish the thought, Cain hits into a DP.    Bughghghgh!
