With Andrew McCutchen off to a nice start I was curious about the best all-time seasons in terms of OPS for a Brewers hitter age 35 or older. The Brewers have had 20 seasons in which a hitter age 35 or older had an OPS north of .750 (minimum 70 games played).

Where do you expect McCutchen (and maybe Lorenzo Cain) to fall on this list by season’s end?

Here’s the list of best OPS seasons for a Brewers hitter age 35+ (min. 70 games):

Cubs lineup is out (now added to on opening post), hopefully today’s start goes as well for Freddy as his early April performance at Wrigley last season (5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 4 BB, 8 SO).

Brewers lineup also included in the top post. Willy Adames (batting 2nd) and Andrew McCutchen (batting 4th) are a combined 7-for-13 with a double and home run against Marcus Stroman for their careers.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

I see a very real and distinct possibility Andrew could enter into that Top 10 and even the Top 5. He looks healthy - his knee is back under him in a good way - and dialed at the plate. I tend to think, after all is said and done, we see 30-35 HR and an OPS around 0.825 or higher. He is a joy to watch at the plate.

The Brewers supposedly great rotation looks like it didn’t have any spring training.
Why would a team try to steal a base when they have a good chance of scoring from first on 3 more walks or HBPs.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Time to watch the Masters again.

This might not be the best week for the Brewers to be playing a 4 game series against the Cardinals. They might be 7 or 8 games out by next Sunday.

Not looking that way.

Well, the starting rotation was definitely NOT warmed up enough in the shortened spring training, AND the batters have not learned anything new since the Andy Haines days with our two new hitting instructors.

BUT, this season ain't over!

Let's go, Brewers!

Get a chip on your shoulders!

Come on, Counsell ... show some Ozzie Guillen life down there!  Motivate the troops!
