Message Board's impact on outcome of game

Funny that one of the excuses for tonight's thread lock was that "the mods needed a night off". I'd say they were busier tonight than in any game all year.

As for the argument that we should "respect the wishes" of the posters who didn't want an IGT tonight, explain to me why they couldn't just stay away from the board for one night? What about respecting my wish to talk Brewer baseball with the people in this online community I've come to know and really enjoy? And what if I don't want an IGT tomorrow, or next Saturday? Shouldn't the mods respect my wishes, too?

Living in New York, I couldn't just go down to the corner pub and watch the game with my fellow Brewer fans. On a rare night when my girlfriend was working and I had a whole night to watch the Brewers, I couldn't talk about it with anybody, couldn't share my joy when Jenks hit the walk off bomb in the 13th.

If the mods don't see a problem with that, I don't know what to say. Really wish that hadn't happened. G'night.

Thanks mods, you did a great job with locking the threads tonight that needed to be locked.

I would like to say more, but I do not want to perpetuate what y'all are trying to prevent with the bickering here. I will say that there are people on this thread that have embarrassed themselves tonight.

Thanks mods for doing a generally awesome job.

Same here...I've lived in Chicago and San Francisco the last several years, and the IGT is really a great resource and outlet.

It was pretty disappointing people couldn't follow the rules for an evening.

Again, it's not disrespect or civil disobedience or whatever...people here are naturally inclined to discuss the game, especia;;y one like this in this particular situation.

If they needed a night off, just shut the whole messageboard down--this place will never be a senior citizen's gardening forum, but it's also not somethingawful.com, either. Respect goes both ways.

id really like to hear why you think this? i guess i don't get why people voicing their opinions and wanting to talk to other people about the brewers is so embarrassing.

[ I will say that there are people on this thread that have embarrassed themselves tonight. ]

While I think there are people who took things too seriously (and that's totally just my opinion), I don't think anyone embarrassed themselves for speaking their minds, here, in the appropriate forum.

As long as people don't get passive aggressive about it, I'm open to all criticism... It's a site for all of you guys, not for us (the mods).

you guys and lady ?

If you check carefully, you'll find that there are two 'ladies' on the mod list. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif One lays pretty low, though.

Actually, locking is very easy. We hit a checkbox, choose lock from a pulldown menu, hit submit, then hit a confirm button. It's a hell of a lot easier than trying to keep a thread open.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

What a sociological experiment!

I completely agree, I'm amazed by some of the reactions to this, but I'm also glad to see them, it's nice to know so many people are so passionate about the Brewers, and this site.

I was out for most of the night, just getting home from a business trip to Montana. I was able to see the game from the 8th inning on, I didn't log on here until the game had ended.

Looks like a missed quite a show.

The problem with the IGT thread has been that it's troll heaven lately. I have no problem with no IGT, after being a regular reader of it for many years, I rarely read it anymore, it's more like a vent thread... or forecasting of impending doom thread. Thank god football starts next week and I'll be distracted for the playoff push.

"It was pretty disappointing people couldn't follow the rules for an evening."

Our mutual disappointment in each other will have to remain unresolved then. Moving forward, just hope that never happens again, and look forward to the return of the IGT tonight.

Except that our disappointment comes with bannings.

The lack of respect and the blatant refusal of some to follow the wishes of the staff and some of their fellow posters was quite appalling last night. Seriously, if your life is so tied up in posting "GET WISE OUT OF THERE YOST!!!111!!" on an internet message board during a game, I don't know what to tell you at this point.

If the Brewers get slaughtered tonight with the return of the IGT, I think we know who's going to get the blame. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

I've been posting here for over two years now but started reading the site long before that...how long have the IGTs been around? For whatever reason, I don't remember it being a real fixture until last season..

I guess I just don't have the passion for it that others do..I'll check in on it on days that I'm stuck watching on GameCast and need something clarified..but that's about it. It can be hard sifting through the one-line outbursts of anger and exclamations of joy to find actual information about what happened at times..but I suppose it captures what people were feeling at the moment, which can be interesting.
