Would be nice if Yelich didn't watch the first pitch go for a strike and then strike out on an off speed pitch in the same area.  I really hate the Braun watch the first pitch go by no matter what approach.

I’m all for ripping Yelich. Guy is paid like a franchise star and for 2 straight years has been average. I don’t believe he will ever be a 3/4 of his former self.

Not a bad day overall. Pitching couldn't get key outs. Cain just missed one.

In retrospect, putting Caratini in fresh off the plane with pitchers he's never worked with before probably could have been handled differently.

I don't remember the last time I hated a Brewers player as much as I CURRENTLY hate Yelich. That currently was capitalized in case he turns it around but I just hate watching the guy play the last two seasons.

1-for-10 with RISP. Saw this movie plenty of times in 2021. Need better in 2022. See what the rest of the series brings. 
 

ETA: Did have 2 sacrifice flies, so not all empty trips with RISP.

At least you didn’t invest into him buying his signed bats, balls, cards. Imagine being that guy…( I am that guy) he went from my favorite player to a guy I don’t like watching anymore

How many starts did Burnes have last year before his 3rd BB?  Good to see a brewer hitter swinging at the first pitch instead of waiting for 2 strikes before swinging and ending up with a K. Dreary overcast day and dreary overcast Brewers performance.

As a Twins fan, you probably haven’t followed Yelich closely the last two years … it truly makes no sense for him to be batting third

I understand his salary “forces” the Brewers to start him most days - but Counsell is stubborn to play him everyday & bat him third

While clearly not the start we were looking for, I am excited enough by the return of baseball that I'll be extra patient with the Crew this year.  I'm going to give them all the way until Monday before I panic.

I’ve followed the Brewers quite a bit. I don’t think I’d bat Yelich third at this point but I’m not sure he’s entirely cooked, either.

But either way, he should probably move down the order. Having a guy that puts the ball on the ground a lot hitting behind the leadoff duo isn’t exactly optimal.

That will be easier if they move Yelich down in the bottom third of the batting order

Who aside from Adames in today's lineup is definitely better than Yelich? The Brewers are a collection of approximately league average hitters and Adames, Yelich projects better than anyone.

I would say Adames for sure, Urias when healthy(obviously not in the lineup) and that’s it. And that’s the problem in and of itself.

I think you’ve put your finger in why some people are not so bullish on the Brewers. It is not a championship caliber offense.

And now that the bar is set higher than just making the playoffs and bowing out early, the offense lowers the ceiling.

I know Yelich's results were bad, but looking at his swing, it's much worse from when he was good.  I wish there was a good side by side between his good years from now.  Here's what it used to be:

In his ninth inning K, there was no power being generated from his lower half.  His plant step looks like it is stopping momentum, and his hip rotation was about half of what it was in the above video.  The results made it look like a mediocre little league swing, with low bat speed and no power. 

The Brewers hitting coaches have to know this, so there must be something causing his bad form.  If there is something going on with his health, he needs to be on the IL, or retire injured and let the Brewers collect the insurance.

Actually got some guys on base today. Difference was the Cubs got a couple huge hits and the Brewers didn't.
