About half the teams will start the season using this new technology where the catcher presses some buttons on a key pad and an earpiece had by the pitcher and up to 3 infielders will have the pitch type and location signaled to them.

I’ll predict that this technology causes time of game to drop by 5-10 minutes this year. The game will no longer slow to a halt when there is a runner on 2B.

Interesting. Unless I missed something, the article didn’t list which teams are employing this to start the season.

My guess is most, if not all of them. Definitely not just 1 or 2 teams.

I admit I haven't read on this subject besides what has been stated in this thread but I  don't like this.  It technologically removes some of the nuance of baseball.  Makes obscolete the need for signs and various systems of signing, removes a bunch of the mental prep and cohesiveness needed for an effective MLB battery. 

 

I absolutely get why pitchers and catchers would love this, as well as fans who want the game to end as fast as they can get it over with.  But I don't fit into either category and thus I'm not in favor.
