First Softball Practice 4/15 @ 1 pm Update #2

brewerjamie15

Our first softball practice will be Saturday, 15 April at 1 pm. Practice will be held at Hales Corner's Park Softball Diamond.

Valpocrewsader provided the following link:

H.C.P. MAP

and supplied the following:

If you park in the lot on New Berlin rd (by the pool), you can't miss the diamond. I work in Hales Corners, so if you want, I can snap some pictures tomorrow rather than you driving out here.

I'd ask at this time that all players unable to atend please contact me via this thread or via inbox.

I'd also like to remind you to bring player fees.

I think that practice will run for approx. 2 hours and will be mostly loosening up, catch, hitting and fielding drills, and then player fees and signing player cards, etc. I'd ask you bring a check or exact change.

I'll see you all on Saturday, weather permitting. If it's supposed to rain, etc, please stay tuned to this thread for further updates.

If anyone on the East Side needs a ride, let me know.

Fees:

$277/19= $14.50 + 12.00 per player = 26.50 per player (MKE resident)

add $12 for non-MKE folks= $38.50

I will definitely be there. Just a heads up, I'm not 100% sure that the diamond is regulation softball size (might be little league? which would be smaller??), but it should be perfectly fine for the "hitting and fielding drills" on the agenda.

Can't wait to meet people on saturday and play some baseball! (Of course, that'll be after I meet some of you friday night, probably.)

Who's bringing a radio on saturday so we can listen to the game?

Do we know for sure if metal cleats are allowed? Picked some up today, but I won't wear them if someone's not positive they're cleared for use...

Just remembered that I still have to get some kind of pants.. doh! Guess I'll be making a trip to Kohl's tomorrow morning http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Props to Jamie for putting this thing together. We had a heck of a solid practice today. Eight of us and I gotta tell ya...this was about as organized a practice as you're ever gonna get. Tons of balls...we went through and took BP twice each and got some good glove work in. I was pretty impressed. Next week when even more people can make it, we're gonna look so good out there we might start drawing a crowd to watch. I had an excellent time.

We had the game on the radio...the Brewers won...and the weather was great. And meeting everyone in person, I definitely think we've got a great group of guys.

I was impressed as well. We got some good aluminum on the ball and there was some flashy glove work. Looks like we are going to be a competitive team.

It was nice to get a little of the rust off today, now I just need to take a bath in Icy Hot or Aspercream. Even my hair is sore right now.

Thanks for showing up you guys.

Just got out of the ice bath... Hurts to type. Hurts to think....hehe. Ok, not really, but my back is pretty sore. Today I realized how much of a pansy I am on defense http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Some wicked hops! Don't think I'll be able to make next week's -- going to the game -- but I'll be there in spirit. It was good to meet everyone and finally put a face to these names.

Jamie, you should check out the rules on metal spikes. The fall league does not allow metal spikes on that field.

Also be aware that all rings, necklaces, earrings, wristwatches, and other jewelry are usually banned also. (even stud earrings, some umps just won't let you play with those.)

Wish I could have made practice. It looked beautiful outside. Work sucks.

I had fun. Besides getting my occasional paintball excursions, it was the first time in awhile that I got to run around for fun. I was mostly fine on Saturday, but when I tried to get out of bed on Sunday, I couldn?t walk. I was taking 4 inch steps until I loosened up and was sore most of the day.

Good times.
