Favorite Pitcher at the Plate moment

Since the DH appears to be here in the NL for good, and ESPN's take on it seemed to overlook lots of fun moments, lets create our own list.

#1 for me - Gallardo hits HR, scores only run in 1-0 win.

Suter hitting his HR was fun as well, mainly because it's Suter ?

Feel free to share, doesn't have to be a Brewer.

You knew me as Myday2001.

I don't know why it sticks out for me, but I'll always remember Chris Capuano's one career HR. Opposite field at Miller Park. It just kept carrying and carrying.  Even Uek was shocked, he thought it was just a routine pop fly.

The Crew had so many pitchers who could rake. Gallardo was one - could have been interesting to see him do some work at 1B or as a regular PH. Woodruff had a couple (there was a regular-season homer that was overshadowed by that blast off Kershaw). Suter had one. Houser had two last season. Lauer had one.

We saw the Gallardo walkoff double, the Suter and Woodruff dingers and the 15th inning Jordan Lyles Experience in person, and I would count them all among my favorites.

Just to add something new to this thread, who remembers the day Tomo Ohka decided to switch to LHB against the Rockies and had a career high 4 RBI?  We were at that game too: https://www.espn.com/mlb/game/_/gameId/260824108

2007 Brewers vs. Giants on June 18.  Yovanni's first MLB start, and the first game me and my son went to just the two of us. We had gone to games as a family, or with other guys in my 'baseball friends' group, but this was the first time we went JUST him and me as "two guys" (he was 12 or 13 at the time).  Yo pitched 6 1/3 strong innings and in the bottom of the 2nd he smoked a double to left in his first big league at bat.

So maybe not the most memorable AB by a Brewers pitcher, but kinda special for us, and obviously pretty memorable for Yo.  Brewers won the game 5-4 as well!

The Gallardo walk off double is a moment in my life I will never forget.  I was in Europe for the first time and we were in Paris and we woke up early to catch a train to Brussels so I grabbed my phone to check the Brewers score and saw the game was still on so I turned on the radio feed and heard the final half inning while my wife was in the shower.  We had been out late so I didn't have much sleep and my wife came out of the bathroom in only a towel right as he got the hit and the surrealness of being in Paris and the Brewers game being on in the morning when I woke up and the absurdity of the way we won and my topless wife doing a little celebration dance when she realized what happened just my just made life feel like some sort of wonderful fever dream.

The Woodard homer was obviously amazing as well and is something I will never forget but the circumstances were just so memorable for Gallardo's hit.

Any Ben Sheets hit.

I remember one time they interviewed him after some game where he dominated on the mound, and he only wanted to talk about his opposite field hit.

I came here to post this.  I'm very foggy on details but I remember an interview with Ben Sheets talking about how great of a hit he had, opposite field blooper.  It was so hilarious. All the details he went in to.  If anyone can find it, that would be great!

Number two on my list is the Woody home run in the playoffs vs the Dodgers, as many others posted.  What a huge hit!

I saw Sheets make a joke one time on a national morning show, probably on ESPN since it was so long ago where they were busting his chops about hitting and he got all defensive and his point was that he has a "multi year hit streak going" so they need to lay off.    Not sure what he's up to these days but I thought he could make a good commenter radio/tv type person, seemed to have a good personality for it.

But yea for me it will always be Woodruff of Kershaw

Woodruff in the NLCS was the most exciting.

I’ll nominate both of Jim Abbott’s two career hits that he notched with the Brewers in 1999. Both were RBI singles and both against the Cubs.

This is always a funny read.

The last I read something about Sheets was that he was just enjoying his time with his kids.  I think Uecker did an interview with him in 2016 maybe earlier?

One of his kids will be going to Auburn and the other is like 15 now I think.

I also agree that Sheets would be awesome either for radio/tv.

Straying a bit….Letting Randy Wolf bat in a tie game at home in the 9th with one out, bases loaded, when the back up catcher was still available. Macha never used the entire bench, rarely using the backup catcher to hit in fear of a late injury. Wolf struck out. Weeks walked or got hit by pitch to win.  Favorite would be Woodruff off Kershaw, but this other was memorable and maddening, but a win.

I can't remember the year but I remember one time Sheets sending the LF'er to the warning track. Off the bat, the crowd went nuts thinking Sheets had actually done the impossible and gone deep.

My non-Brewer favorite pitcher homerun was Bartolo Colon's HR in San Diego.

I witnessed a Scott Karl homer just hook fair inside the RF foul pole at County Stadium.  He hit two career HRs, both in 1999, so I can say with confidence that '99 was the year I saw that happen.  ?

I remember Bronswell Patrick hitting one, too, but can't remember if I was in attendance for that or not (and I'm not going digging into my ticket stub collection to find out).  He was in one game long enough to walk 10 guys, I think (unless it was Rafael Roque -- just as good of a chance with either guy), and I know I watched that adventure happen (upper box, 3rd base line -- a very good view of very shaky pitching!).

I'm sure I've witnessed in-person a few other Brewer pitchers' homers over the years, but those two stood out because they were a fairly new phenomenon for the Brewers after moving to the NL.  A little digging pointed out that Patrick's was the Brewers' first HR by a pitcher since 1971.

In terms of impact, Woodruff's off of Kershaw tops my list.

Man, that Woodruff HR.

I was at the game.  My wife and I smoked at the time.  Middle of the 3rd, I said, let's grab a quick smoke, Woodruff is up first, we won't miss anything and we can get back by the time Cain is up.  What an idiot I am.

I heard it, so I guess that's something.  smh.
