Spring Training Games Thread - 2022

The Brewers played the White Sox today. Tuesday March, 22nd.

For those in the know Eric Lauer was scheduled to start today's outing BUT he was a late scratch due to 'groin tightness' and they handed the ball over to Jason Alexander. If you are unfamiliar with Jason Alexander outside his tenure as a key character on 'Seinfeld' here you go:

Brewers fall 4-3. Keston Hiura continues his early season MVP surge with an rbi single. Corey Ray went 2 for 2 with an RBI single as well if you can believe it or not. Solid outing from Alexander who spot fills with 2 scoreless and a K. Devin Williams saw his first action of the spring and gave up a run. Luis Perdomo with another scoreless inning. BUT, let's talk about one of the better pick off moves you'll see in awhile in Caleb Boushley in the 9th. Solid solid stuff here:

In a wild n wooly ST affair like tonight, I take a step down Aisle 1 and go to the Salvage Bin:

Spicy K is straight hitting the fur off the ol' white rat. That is all I care about at present. And, aside from that, Ashby with a solid solid outing.

Box of Burgers was serving em up hot and tasty tonight. On to the next.

Sure was a wild game last night.  I wasn't locked in on it, but was watching here and there.  On a side note, these embedded tweets, especially the videos like this, are fantastic!

It's a nice way to give Spring Training recaps, eh? A great feature of this software. Easy read. Quick. Painless. A lil bit of interview and post-game analysis. I don't know why I keep doing it but it's become my current daily routine. Naturally, today, they played an early One and I was off-Farm.

Thursday March 24th:

The Crew took on the Arizona Diamondback Rattlesnakes and, well, Mr. Woodruff took a cue from Burnsey and Burgers and gave up a ripe 4 spot in 3 innings. Don't take my word for it, let's listen to the gentle Southern drawl from our Starting Ace:

He may have struggled on the mound today...but, man, when he talks I feel better. Maybe that's just me and my fondness for my years in the Deep South.

Highlights from the game included 3 straight scoreless from Hader, Cousins, and Gott including 7 K's amongst the 3 relievers. Hader has now pitched 2 innings and struck out all 6 batters. We can't say the same for Suter who surrendered 4 hits and 2 earned runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. However, when the Raptor goes on camera to give us this:

Who really cares how he pitched? It's Spring Training and baseball is back! Singleton and Dahl each with solo knocks. Brewers fall 6-3 and now sport a stout 3-3 overall record.

Edit to Add: I'm in prime Spring Training form as well. Toss me in the Bullpen. I completely overlooked last year's Bullpen, um, darling, Hoby Milner's turn in the rotation. He came on strong with 3k's...while giving up a 4 spot. Brewers finally actually fall 10-3. LOL.

Here's Couns discussing some baseball things post-game:

Some highlights from Devin yesterday. He is working his cutter into the mix and results are trending. First vid is a straight Cutter highlight. The following is a nice Mix of pitches from yesterday. I am salivating at the possibility of tossing in an effective cutter with his Change.

I think Woody is ready for ST to end? Another outing. And, another not so good one. 3.1 ip, 6 H, 1 BB, 4 k and gives up 2 ding dongs and 5 runs. You know they wanted to stretch him out some more...and were incapable. Woody has work to do to get back to his best stuff.

If someone can explain the current running Brewers Box score at present (we might be batting in the Top of the 6th?) that would be amazing. LOL. Everybody Spring Training now (Rastafari voice)

We have Woody leaving in the Bottom of the 4th and then re-entering the game to give up another HR in the Bottom of the 5th? Ummmm...yeah.

In spring you can take a pitcher out and put them back in

LOL. No kidding?!? Well that's hilarious in that you can do that and I somehow didn't even know. Thanks! We let him back into the game to give up another ding dong. Good stuff Woody!

Given Jake Cousins' 'coming back to Earth' close to his impressive 2021 season, I'm going to say his ST has given me some mild and casual 'concern' as to where he presently fits in the bullpen. He simply doesn't have the track record. For me, this is another prove it year for the young Wild Card. Hopefully, he gets his footing early and can run with some success.
