Brewers In Top Half Of Carlos Correa Landing Spots

MLB.com placed the Brewers in the 9-14 range of possible landing spots for Carlos Correa.

Seriously... Correa at short for a year, Does that mean Adames to third or second? Or does Willy get some time at first?

Or is this more a case of the Crew should have been in the "All set at shortstop, thanks" category?

Logically I would say they should have been in the "All set at shortstop, thanks" category, but it's not like they're not known for both 1.) taking 1 year flyers on guys that slip by the initial offseason market, and 2.) acquiring players for positions that seem to be already set. So who knows?!

Correa is more likely to get signed by the LA Rams than those 3 teams...

Yet we live in a world where the Rockies sign Kris Bryant to a mega deal...

I would put the A's and Pirates in their own group with the Reds in their own group above them. They have at least demonstrated a willingness to sign free agents in the recent past.

I just don't really see how this is possible. Someone is going to give Correa $250m and I just can't see the Brewers being the team that does it.

Recent rumors for Correa have been light with only the Astros being connected to him.  Correa reportedly rejected a long term deal with the Tigers.  The Astros have been reportedly interested in offering Correa a short term deal.  Something like a 3-year deal where Correa can opt out after the first year.

Huh. That's really surprising.

It only takes one team and it was the Rangers who gave Corey Seager the 10year/$325M contract.  Correa wants more than that (hello Davante 2), so a lot of teams are backing away as that's a lot of money.  The Dodgers just picked up one of the better FA options out there for HALF that amount. Based on $8M per WAR that means Seager/Correa would need to put up 40 WAR over the lifetime of the contract or 8 years of 5 WAR.  Most teams that are smart understand that's a lot of risk.

Correa hired Boras and it's very likely Scotty put a minimum $300 million price-tag on him for a long-term deal.  Reports were the Tigers offered him 10 years, 275 million and were rejected.  The Astros are reported to have offered 5 years, 160 million and were rejected.  So 275 million didn't get it done, and 32 million per year for 5 years could not get it done.  So now it looks like Boras has scared off pretty much everybody.  That's why some are mentioning a one year deal where Correa can jump back into the market and try again next year.  And since a similar situation, on a smaller scale, happened with Grandal going to the Brewers, the Brewers are being thrown into the speculation.
