Sorry but this lineup is still way short if they want to win the World Series.

instead of signing a real impact bat like Castellanos we went dumpster diving much like we did at last years deadline. Great pitching is going to be wasted by having a sub par offense.

We’ll have a killer vs LHP lineup now….. But I sure hope this isnt the only bat we add.

We need Soler, Schwarber, Conforto, Castellanos type… Otherwise wasting another year of our fantastic staff.

Cutch is no longer good defensively and has not been since 2019.  He can play CF as well as Yelich, so I would consider neither as a real option there.  Cutch has only played 15 games in CF the last 4 years.

I'm glad we are adding bats though this one is past his prime and is really only an option vs. LHs.  If he is part of a DH platoon, sure, I'm on board.  Just hope he wont be playing against RHs with his sub 700 OPS.

If this is dumpster diving, show me that dumpster because I want a shot! This is a typical/perfect Brewer FA signing.  As noted he hits LH pitching well and that was a huge problem last year and for a few years.  Yeah he is in the sunset of his career, but don't underestimate the value of Cutch instead of a pitcher hitting.  He likely will get 300-400 PA between LF/DH depending on Cain's health.

Edit: He still walks at a decent rate which is another bonus.

Edit(2): Full disclosure, I didn't like the JBJ signing because of the downside for his bat.

If this was for a platoon bat against lefties no problem but this doesn’t move the needle at all and we are still desperate for a legitimate middle of the order bat especially when you factor the DH being in the national league.

Welp, re-upping Box of Burgers and grabbing an aged veteran Platoon bat for LHP is about the Brewers start to the off-season I envisioned. Hopefully, we have some more coming. McCutcheon is a guy that seems to always hit the Brewers. For that reason, alone, I am mildly content I don't have to watch him hit clutch against the Crew. Always seemed like a good teammate and a good guy to boot. Hope he has a nice season.

Solid vet. Good clubhouse guy. Can play all 3 OF spots. Not super inspiring, but not a terrible guy to have around. Should see quite a bit of time with the age/injury issues in the OF.

Saying he can play all 3 outfield spots was true, once upon a time.  I suppose he technically still *can* be put in CF, but definitely should not be, ever, unless nobody else on the roster capable of doing so is left in the game.
