Why not add Hunter Strickland to Brewers bullpen?

I’d love for Milwaukee to add one more bullpen arm …

Hunter Strickland pitched well for the Brewers after being acquired last June

He would be a nice addition this year as well

He has a career ERA of 3.2 & was around 2.8 for the Crew in 2021

He should be available for something similar to the Boxberger deal

Anyone else in favor?

The Brewers currently have Hader, Williams, Cousins, Boxberger, & Suter as locks in their pen. I can't see them adding a 6th guy who they wouldn't be able to send to the minors. Maybe if they can get him on a minor league deal but we know the Brewers love having flexibility with those last few spots in the pen.

I sure hope they add a 6th guy who has proven something at the big league level. Not sure if it is Strickland but not a lot of faith in the guys(Gott/Gustave/Mejia/Milner/Angel Perdomo/Luis Perdomo/Sanchez/Barker/Lindblom) who would be fighting for the last three spots if they didn't pick up somebody else.

Strickland would be a good signing and likely wouldn't be too expensive based on what Boxberger just signed for.  That would be 6 solid guys for 8 spots (or 7 spots if they at times use a 6-man rotation).  You can't have enough depth.

Cousins was super good for most of last year, but if he falters too much, doesn't he have options left?  If so, that would give them more flexibility.  And there are sure to be some injuries where guys miss time, even if just for shorter stints.

Total agree and it’s Stearns MO to add a relief arm to the pen. So I think this could still be a name to watch out for.
