josh hader has been traded to the padres for dinelson lamet, taylor rogers, esteury ruiz and a minor leaguer.

dinelson lamet has two minor league options remaining entering spring training 2023. he has never been outrighted to the minor leagues. since 2 may, he has been sent on optional assignment twice, and has already spent at least 20 days on optional assignment this season.

taylor rogers appears to have two minor league options remaining, but has enough service time to refuse any minor league assignment.

esteury ruiz has three minor league options remaining. prior to this trade, he has never been optioned or outrighted to the minor leagues.

to make room on the 40-man roster, miguel sanchez was transferred to the 60-day injured list.

the 40-man roster is at capacity.

trevor rosenthal is acquired from the giants for a minor leaguer. rosenthal appears to have burned only one of his options, and has been outrighted to the minor leagues before. however, he has sufficient service time to refuse any minor league assignment (other than a rehab assignment).

rosenthal is currently on the injured list. hard pressed to remember the last time the brewers acquired a player on the injured list.

to make room on the 40-man, luke barker was designated for assignment. the brewers have seven days to put barker on release or outright waivers (unless they managed to trade him just before today's deadline). if he clears outright waivers, he will be forced to accept the minor league assignment.

the 40-man roster remains at capacity.

the brewers activated freddy peralta from the 60-day injured list. to make room on the 40-man roster, a player was designated for assignment.

dinelson lamet has been designated for assignment. the club has seven days to activate release waivers or attempt outright waivers. although lamet has never accepted an outright assignment before, because he has at least three years service time, he reserves the right to refuse an outright assignment if he clears waivers, and become a free agent. and given that he just passed five years of service time, if he clears outright waivers, his contract is still guaranteed by the brewers.

pedro severino has also been designated for assignment. the club has seven days to activate release waivers or attempt outright waivers. if severino clears outright waivers, he reserves the right to refuse the minor league assignment and become a free agent. unlike lamet, he must forfeit any remaining guaranteed money on his contract if he refuses the minor league assignment.

the roster is at 39 players.
