2022 Brewers TV

So dumb. Not sure if its still the case, but I saw an MLB blackout map from a few years ago & want to say Iowa had like six teams blacked out?

This is exactly right.  Twins, Brewers, Cubs, White Sox, Cardinals, and Royals ALL claim good chunks of Iowa as "their" territory.  SO glad that I don't live there anymore!  It really sucked!

What is mlb66?  Never heard of that?  Do you live here in WI, and does this help you avoid the blackout restrictions?  Again, just trying to evaluate what my best option is here this summer to watch games - as I want to keep my YouTubeTV, and not go back to DirecTV or cable.

It's a website that streams every MLB game completely free, and you have the option to listen to home or away announcers.  Just google search for "mlb 66" and it will come up.  When I'm on my cell phone, sometimes when I first click on the game I get redirected to a pop up ad.  On my TV it freezes maybe once a game and I have to hit refresh and it is fine.  Outside of those two things, literally every game that I watched last year was streamed from that website.  Even when I'm not home, I pull it up on my phone and check in from time to time.  Last year I would check in on other games when there was a no-hitter going or something like that.

It's up for spring training games.  In the afternoon once there is a game started you should be able to pull it up and see how it works.  I watched the Brewers for a while yesterday on it.

If there was an option to get the Bally's App for $20 a month or something like that, I would gladly pay it.  For now, I will continue to use that site instead of paying $80+ per month for the direct TV streaming option.

I just can't get past the fact it's 2022 and Ballys, MLB, whomever is involved, can't figure out how to launch an app before opening day.  If it is $20/month, that sounds about right.  But get it done!  You're losing fans, and the solution is keep fans from bwing able to watch the games?

tonight i did add direct tv stream and cancel sling. Its an extra 60 bucks a month but i want to be able to see my brewers when  I want. hopefully ballys has their app ready sooner rather than later, but i'm ready for opening day.

Isn't that still subject to blackout restrictions?  We subscribed last year and didn't get to see any local Brewers games broadcast by Bally's.

Psst.  VPN.  Pssstttt.  VPN.

I've used Strong and Nord with reasonable happiness.  Hated IPVanish (speed and drop issues and just buggy connections). Both Strong and Nord have FireTV apps (which is my preferred watching device). I use these mostly for work as I have clients in the US and EU/UK so both provide good international and US coverage (for MLB).

it is true, there are exclusive games on ESPN, FS1, Peacock, and Apple TV. Its only 1-2 games a week per day. So odds are the brewers won't be affected significantly. They seem to stay out of the national spotlight no matter how well they play.

Ah, yea. I must have misread the previous post and thought it was only regarding the Brewers. Sorry.  The Brewers are mainly on Bally this year. Ridiculous they dont have their own streaming service.

Old man post here. When I was a kid I use to collect and keep each year's pocket schedule.  Stopped for some reason in the early 90s, Here is a picture of the 1977 Brewer's schedule.  Notice the dates with the black boxes. Those were all the televised games. 20 in total. The rest you had  to listen to on the radio. There is a part of me that misses those days. Had to visualize in your head what was happening by listening to Uecker and Merle Harmon call the game. Made you appreciate the televised games that much more (it was an event!) or the games I could go to in person (ticket prices are on the back of the schedule and range from $3 for upper grand to $5 for Box seats and don't include bleacher seat prices - which I don't think you could buy in advance back then). Also note all the scheduled double headers. Ten in total if I'm counting correctly, including some Twi-night DHs which started at 5pm.  If they did that now the 2nd game would not end until midnight at best.

So, anyways, its fine with me if there are some games that I can not watch on TV.

The sponsorship of this pocket schedule is not lost on me. ?

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

LOL!

I have heard a lot of good things about Nord.  $80 for two years seems very reasonable especially for six devices.  Perhaps I could get another router that I could flash with DD-WRT and we could connect to that Wi-Fi connection to make it more transparent.

Thanks for the advice.

For all my whining(yes i was admittedly a bit over the top in my complaining), the Brewers happen to have very few games on other services and none on apple tv or peacock, which wouldn't impact me directly but both my father and father in law wouldn't get those games as they are both cable people still and i'd be tasked with helping them get those games. So for the Brewers this whole thing is a nothingburger...this year. I still have concerns about baseball going this route and what it will mean in the future, but for this year it's inconsequential.

Gotta say, watching the game yesterday, I prefer Tim Dillard over Rock.  I think he provides a lot of interesting insights and has gotten more comfortable with being on broadcasts over the past year.  Schroeder tends to rehash the same simplistic, and sometimes outdated, commentary..."Didn't try to do too much with that one", "That was too close to take",  and doesn't seem to have any interest in learning anything about modern analytics. I also always appreciate announcers that have at least some knowledge of pop culture references.

You forgot "that feels as good as it's going to all night" whenever a guy takes a knock of some sort. For me that's the classic Rock comment. Anytime a guy gets beaned or hit with a liner or something...I know it's imminent.

To me the biggest cliche from Rock is the constant talk about going the other way as a hitter.  Obviously I get the overall point/reason and I agree with it, but its overstated to the point that you'd think nothing good ever comes from pulling the ball.

But we're spoiled with announcers and that's nitpicking. You're going to have that after 20 years with the same person.   If anyone had the Brewers/SD game on last week with the SD announcers (best of my knowledge they seemed like their regulars) it should make you appreciate what we have here.
