The biggest surprise with the Walker selection was that Lloyd was still there. Some people were worried about Dean's size - so I can see passing on him. But Lloyd is seen as a three-down guy - just like Walker. Still, whatever works for the team. You pick who you like.

If we grab a Daxton Hill or a Lewis Cine to pair with Quay Walker I may run naked through my acreage. ?

Seriously. I'm not sure what's going on with Johnson. but 28 is a massive opportunity to add either the 2nd best safety or an edge like Karlaftis or Johnson.

Walker pick brings up the perennial question.  Great pick or not, would he have been available later?  Can never be known, but get ready to hear that a lot.

Or even if he was gone, would you have been fine with Lloyd.

A lot of times when this happens the club knows someone wants their guy. It happened with Stokes last year (I think Buffalo was poised to take him a couple of slots later), and Savage a few years ago (Baltimore or Indy - I think - had him in their sights).

I can say with 100% certainty that if we didn't pick him at 22, he was totally available at 23...

Not sure what historical data looks like, but Spotrac has 15 of 25 picks so far age 21.

Other ten are 20 (x3), 22 (x6) and 23 (x1).

So what you're saying is, 80+% of the guys picked so far are 22 or younger, meaning there's not actually really any data to be gleaned from the data, and it's pretty much just random? huh....

I personally hate that argument.  A guy gets picked at (hypothetically) 19th, a ton of people will say "he would have been available at 30".   Wrong, he wasn't available at 30.

Interesting note on Walker- as a LB, his three-cone and short shuttle times were lower than Eric Stokes. Which is nuts.

Yup. It is nuts. The man can move in space. The most common player comp I've seen is two players: Navarro Bowman and Derrick Brooks. I think I'm, um, good if we get a version of that.

In a way, similar to Gary pick.  It's not about how complete a player he is, or how great a college player.  It's about a specific set of skills.  Skills that make him a nightmare for people like the Rams, Bucs, and Niners.  He will find you.
