Aaron Rodgers Trade ideas

I want to use this thread for trade packages that the Packers might be able to get from other teams.

IMPORTANT: This is NOT to debate or comment about Rodgers or if we should trade him. It's ONLY a thread to gather ideas of potential packages we could net for the guy.

Feel free to include Davante Adams in your trade ideas as well (but you don't have to).

I mentioned in another thread that it's hard to ignore the 3 mid-round firsts the Eagles have this year. They certainly looked like a team that could make some legit noise in the bad NFC East if they had competent QB play.

They probably wouldn't give us all three, but I'd take two this year and their 2023 first.

If we are including an Adams tag and trade with Rodgers to Denver I would like to see Jeudy coming back as part of it. We can't leave Love with nothing or he will fail before he really gets a chance. I am sure they want to keep him but if there is a bidding war they are an all in sort of franchise who I think would do whatever it takes. Their first, Jeudy, another 4th this year and their first next year for Rodgers and Adams?

Rodgers and Adams to Denver for:

2022 First

2022 Second

2023 First

2023 Second

Jeudy

I would then try to flip the #9 overall this year to get more future picks. I know the NFL isn't like other leagues but I have no interest being in that just good enough to contend for the playoffs but little chance of winning it all zone. Make sure to have enough on the offensive line to see if Love is the future. If not, use your draft ammo to pick the next guy.

Make sure to "re-set" the cap as much next year as well.

I doubt anything like that happens. This would be it for Rodgers; I don't think he'd be keen on top WRs shoved off the roster of the team he's going to.

Rodgers would bringing his own top WR with him and I would guess could lobby Denver to sign MVS as well. I doubt it too but trying to find something fair that would be best fit for Packers rather than just picks.

Person I think could be a sneaky good pick up is Rico Gafford. Guy can fly and take MVS spot.

With that, I would see if this is possible.

Broncos get

Aaron Rodgers

2022 4th

2023 5th

Packers get

Patrick Surtain

Noah Fant

2022 1st

2022 2nd

2023 1st

Alexander, stokes and Surtain would be fun. Noah fant could replace tonyan. Decent player when healthy.

I’m in the camp of moving on from Rodgers. Not because of talent, but just time to move on. Much like it was with Favre.

Tricky part is draft is in April and the best trade for cap reasons would be after June 1.

If Adams goes to Denver, they'll still have Courtland Sutton, KJ Hamler, and Tim Patrick, they can part w/Jeudy. Patrick isn't a household name but has developed into a quality starter and fits GB's mold of big WRs.

That, or it would have to be a 3-team with Denver parting with Surtain for pieces to send to GB. Surtain wouldn't do GB much good with Jaire and Stokes in the fold.

I don't know the Broncos WRs very well. Who would you take of Hamler, Patrick, Sutton and Jeudy?

If Adams is part of any deal, I would think the Broncos would be willing to give up one of those guys in the return package.

The Broncos have two 2nds and two 3rds this years (the Rams picks - so not high).

1st round (#9)

2nd round (#40)

2nd round (#58 from Rams)

3rd round (#75)

3rd round (#91 from Rams)

That's a lot of ammo to deal with for Denver. Not to mention players - such as a WR, and future picks.

Assuming that Adams would join Rodgers in Denver which I would guess he would, the Broncos WR room would be so loaded that I think they'd almost have to trade Jeudy anyway. Both Sutton, who probably has #1 WR talent, and Patrick were both just signed to extensions. Patrick is nothing special but has always outperformed expectations. That's not even counting KJ Hamler who has 2nd round pedigree and could be a better version of MVS, and Noah Fant who would be Rodgers' most talented TE since Jermichael Finley.

Oh, and they have their RB of the future as well in Javonte Williams.

I actually think Jeudy makes a ton of sense in the return to Green Bay, he's a #1 type talent for Love to start with and he's 22 and on a cheap rookie deal so he works with our cap situation. The Broncos offensive room would simply be getting overcrowded.

And Noah Fant and Albert O at TE. If I was GB, I might try to get one of those guys in return too.

Throw in Deguara if Tonyan is expected to be healthy.

I would prefer a package that includes more 2023 picks that would enable the Packers to trade up and target a QB next year if Jordan Love isn’t the guy.

Only issue is that Rodgers will likely have them picking near the end of each round. This year we know the Broncos pick 9th.

Yeah, you definitely want #9 this year. If Love flops, they'll probably have their own high 1st to use in '23.

Regarding Denver, how about this:

Broncos get Rodgers and Adams

Packers get:

1st round (#9)

2nd round (#40)

2nd round (#58 from Rams)

3rd round (#75)

1st rounder in 2023

2nd rounder in 2023

WR Jerry Jeudy

WR KJ Hamler or TE Albert Okwuegbunam

Broncos would still have a great receiving corps - Adams, Sutton, Patrick, Fant and either Hamler or Okwuegbunam.

Is this feasible? I'm just thinking Rodgers should get a couple of firsts and a couple of seconds - minimum. Add in Adams and it only goes up.

Packers then add Marcus Mariota as a FA. Give him a decent salary and a lot of incentives - and let him compete against Love.

After that, resign Campbell - and if possible - Douglas. I'm not too worried about the others guys.

We'd be sitting on a ton of picks this year (two 1sts, three 2nds, two 3rds) and could re-stock the team with young talent. I can almost guarantee that 2022 would have its share of struggles - but by season's end, perhaps things would gel and the young guys would re-invigorate the club.

Three first round picks the next three even years (2022, 2024, 2026) and two 2nds the next two odds (2023, 2025) would be a great haul. I can’t believe Denver wouldn’t do that immediately for 12.

I’m all for cashing in on Rodgers now and setting up the future. This kind of opportunity doesn’t come along often.

Very true. If they can’t get 3 #1s for Rodgers (which would be my asking price), I would hope they get 2 #1s (2022 & 2023) and then some filler from the 2023 draft.

I could be mistaken, but I think the NFL only allows teams to trade draft picks 3 years out (so in this case, 2022-2024).

3 first rounders and 2 seconds for a 38 year old QB is nuts anyway. No one is doing that.

I tend to agree with you on his value being a little overstated, you never know if there is a bidding war but Rodgers will probably play the retirement card to try to influence where he goes. 2 first and then a couple of mid rounders sounds about right. If it Denver’s #9 maybe less since that is a high value pick. Adams has about mid 1st rounder value since he is getting older and very expensive so about the same value as Jeudy. I guess Jared Allen got 2 firsts in a tag and trade but he was younger.
