I have been thinking about this for awhile and I think this makes a lot of sense for the Yankees and the Brewers.

Yankees get:

Houser and Tellez

Brewers get:

Gallo, Voit and T.J. Sikkema

This gives the Brewers the Yankees 17th ranked prospect in Sikkema, a rental in Gallo and a new 1B in Voit.  Gallo can play at 1B, DH, LF or RF.  I am going to assume Yelich is only going to play about 100 games which leaves a lot of games for Gallo and Taylor to cover in LF or RF.  Yelich will probably also be the starting DH against RHP which allows the Brewers to have Gallo in LF or RF against RHP.

For the Yankees they are able to save some money by trading Gallo and Voit while also making their starting rotation or bullpen stronger with Houser.  Kind of a win win for each team here.

I like that proposal but not sure what the Yankees would do with Tellez. It would add about 11 million to the Brewers payroll but seems like a 10 million dollar Gallo contract would be like an 18 million one for Grandal  Voit is controllable for 3 more years. That would fit our timeline very well.

I would think something much more simple would be of interest to the Yankees. Voit for Houser or Lauer SHOULD be what they are asking for. I wouldn’t take that if I were the Brewers FO as I want the rotational depth. I would rather it be something more based around the edges of the Brewers MLB roster or a middle reliever.  Not sure there is an actual fit from what I’d be willing to deal given that Voit would be in a timeshare with Tellez and expanding it to include Gallo could be just a super expensive, and possible downgrade, from Tellez.

Houser has more value than Voit same with Lauer.  Gallo is not a downgrade from Tellez at all.  Defensively Gallo is superior to Tellez and offensively he is far superior to Tellez.

Yes Gallo strikes out a lot but even with all the strike outs he is still far superior offensively to Tellez.  Ever since Gallo has been a fulltime player he has been about a 3 WAR player.  Tellez hasn't even totaled 3 WAR yet in his career.  Getting Gallo would help this teams offense a lot and give the Brewers the bat they are looking for.

I understand the allure of Gallo but man is he not my kind of ball player. In 2020-2021, he hit .194 and had 292 Ks over 842 PA and 691 ABs.  Yes, he hit 48 HR and had an OPS+ of 112 but that AVG and K just lead me to believe that’s a lot of rally killing outs. I could be wrong but I’d rather gamble on trading for a Meadows or Jeff McNeil or Dom Smith type over acquiring Gallo. Their focus should be on high AVG, consistent contact types to maximize the O. Think Yelich as a Marlin.

Posted a while back a trade on the simulator site that got pretty good reactions from both fanbases.

Brewers Get: Austin Meadows (.849 OPS vs RHP last 3 years)

Rays Get: Jackson Chouiro & Antione Kelly

Not sure adding and OF/DH is our best way to fill out the last bench spot, but I believe we need to get another solid LHH into our lineup vs RHP

Seems like the kind of return that would interest the Rays, couple of high ceiling guys that are a few years away. I like both Chourio & Kelly quite a bit, but obviously have to give something of value up.

Still think JD Davis is the best fit in that he is kind of superfluous on the Mets, has pretty even splits the last three years (133 wRC+ vs RHP, 125 wRC+ vs LHP) and he can at least fake it at the infield corners.

Who would the Brewers cut to take on Meadows? They already have 5 OFs. Cain is likely to play only 100 or so games so Taylor is the only other CF they have. They just signed McCutchon to an $8.5M contract. Stearns said they are probably looking at Yelich as a part-time DH with Cutch playing LF and reversed on other days.

If you find someone that will improve the team, you worry about that after... Trade Cain to a team looking for a CF, idk??

Wonder what the equivalent would have been in the Brewers' system.

For the Brewers, it seems like the consensus 2nd best pitching prospect and top 10 overall would be Ethan Small.  Similar drafts positions with Small being older and closer.

Austin Meadows is a target I would love to see Stearns add. If the price is right, he could be a secondary answer for Urias' injury. Jace and Brosseau see less time in the outfield and more at third. Once Urias returns, Meadows could be a higher-floor platoon mate at DH than Hiura. I suspect its a similar situation as the Adames trade last year with a slow start lowering Tampa's asking price.

Mario Feliciano and Abner Uribe with a throw-in would be my offer for Meadows.

I figure we’ve been trying to fill at least one of the two remaining MLB roster spots with a straight-up waiver claim, but keep missing by a bit:

  • RHP Hunter Harvey (to Nats) - 1 option
  • LHP Caleb Baragar (to D’backs) - 2 options
  • LHP Packy Naughton (to Cards) - 2 options
  • RHP Yoan Lopez (to Marlins) - 2 options
  • RHP Adonis Medina (to Pirates) - 1 option

Hopefully the players we need come on board soon.

Oakland is clearly cleaning house.

Throw them an offer for Sean Murphy and Ramon Laureano.  I don't know what it would take to get them, but they'd be nice to have right now.  Obviously need a C and I don't really like our OF defense right now (Cain is perpetually almost injured)

I understand the values are far from accurate, but if the baseball trade values site is even in the right universe on player values, it would take an incredible haul to pry both those players from the A's:

That is just another reason why those trade value sites are ridiculous.

                                      That is just plain gross.

Can someone please tell me why we have the exact same offense as we did last year?  Garcia and Renfroe are a wash.  We added a DH.  Great.  Other than that, we have the exact same offense that disappointed us last year.   Are we giving David Stearns a pass?   I would hope not.  We have a World Series pitching rotation and a division winning offense at best.  We do not have the offensive weaponry to compete in the playoffs as was evidenced last year.  Seriously, nothing?  Tellez and Urias?  The #1 need going into the offsesaon was what?  Corner Infield!   They did absolutley nothing and it's beyond me why no one is (especially those in the media) that are not asking Stearns this question...."why didn't you address your #1 offseason goal?"    It really is a simple question.  Unreal!!   I'm not happy.

I would have understood trying to perhaps upgrade from the unknown that is Rowdy Tellez, but he was the only one who actually did anything offensively against the Braves in the playoffs last year.

Not real sure if they would have been able to find anything better than the 23 dingers and 75 RBIs Urias put up as a 23/24 year old last year, without paying a boatload to a guy who would have questions of his own. It wasn't so long ago that if we had a kid in his early 20s put up that kind of line, he would have been viewed as a franchise cornerstone.

uh oh.

I'm waiting for the spin masters to show up for this one...  Time for some fancy stats to show you why you are completely wrong in thinking the way you do.
