You could have just said there are no good comps in history. You just used a 36 year old QB coming off like a neck injury where he didn’t play the entire season prior and then your second example was so desperate you used a team getting nothing for a QB in FA.

Not sure the Packers get blown away…but I’m sure they will come away quite nicely in a trade.

I think 2 firsts is likely. They may benefit from how well Brady has played at his age. What may hurt them though is that teams are basically going to know the Packers have to deal him if they're taking the calls this year. Last year, keeping him was a card they held. Feels like they may not have it to play anymore.

Night all. Sorry it did not work out...again.

Yet the Patriots got nothing for Brady. The Colts got nothing for Manning. Brady was a free agent, but they could have structured his deals to keep him under contract with the intention of keeping trade leverage.

Teams don't give up huge draft capital for QBs pushing 40, even elite ones. I can't think of one instance. Ever.

They'll get something....but two 1s would surprise me. I think people will be very disappointed. They have no leverage. Teams know we're moving on, and Rodgers will have say in where he goes, they can't just have a bidding war for him.

Neither of those is a great comp, honestly. And they can't have a bidding war? Says who? You? It takes 2 teams.

No offense to you man, none at all...but you do get quite dramatic about huge losses like this and their consequences. It was you, in 2018, saying the Packers championship window was unequivocally closed. I'm sure you're going to say you were right, but that was clearly not true.

What a garbage, strawman, unrelated personal attack.

You remember some offhand comment in frustration I apparently made 3 to 4 years ago but not my dozens of posts over the past year expressing my feelings about Rodger' potential trade market? I've literally been saying they'll be disappointed with Rodgers' trade compensation since his trade speculation started. Has nothing to do with my feelings on last night.

It's not a "personal attack" lol.

I'm only saying that you have a habit of talking authoritatively about absolute outcomes and then having those things not happen at all. Pretending that you have the inside track in Rodgers's trade value has the potential to be one of those things. If one GM thinks Aaron Rodgers is the missing Super Bowl piece, he will surrender two firsts. It's not this crazy no way in hell thing you're acting like it is.

I literally said "two 1s would surprise me." How on earth is that equivalent to me saying it's a "crazy no way in hell thing".

I think the return will underwhelm.. I've said so for a long time, and I've explained my position because of age, lack of leverage, and lack of comps. It's an opinion, just like the one you and others have on it, yet when I express mine I'm talking authoritatively about absolute outcomes?

Hey guys, tough loss. Let's try and be civil.

Except he wasn't wide open when Rodgers threw the ball - he was wide open after the throw was made. Look at the :04 mark of that video - Lazard has one defender behind him and one in front of him and Rodgers was already in his throwing motion when Lazard made his break.

Now, Rodgers had another second to let the play develop and Lazard would have been open. But when he looked over at Lazard early in the play he wasn't open.

What Rodgers did last locking in to Adams is what happens in the 4th quarter when nothing to that point has been clicking. It's a dead horse at this point but they appeared to be sharing the wealth nicely early in the game, even trying to get ESB involved, then Dillon gets hurt and Lewis coughs it up, the game tightens up. Rodgers is a human being, with previous losses definitely on his mind. So he does what most people do, starts leaning on his crutch way too heavily and it ultimately bit them.

We will rue that fumble for years I think. If we go up 14-0, I believe that game is likely a cakewalk.

24 is in front of Lazard, not "tight" coverage, but he has him in his zone until Lazard makes his break, and then he lets go of him and breaks in. At that point, Rodgers is already looking at Adams, and Lazard is just breaking out of 24's zone and comes open, so yeah, he's "wide open", but he wasn't open at the point where Rodgers had made the decision to throw to Adams.

If Rodgers holds the ball about another half second (and has the field vision to spot him come open) he likely hits him easily for a big gainer.

Sort of. The safety definitely breaks toward Adams before the ball is thrown and likely because he can see Rodgers lock on to him before that.

He knew, presumably, where Lazard was going and should have been able to see that the safety had abandoned the middle of the field.

Hey guys, tough loss. Let's try and be civil.

My first sentence on #730 was unnecessary, and I apologize.

But I've been of the camp ever since trade speculation started that the Packers won't do as well for a Rodgers trade as fans are thinking. It has nothing to do with me getting frustrated after big losses and I don't know why that connection was made.

I could be wrong about how well they'll do for Rodgers and I certainly hope I am.

The throw was pre determined but Lazard broke free right as Rodgers was throwing the ball.

You don't always throw when a guy "is" open. You oftentimes throw when he's "going to be" open. And in this case, given the direction each of the Niners d-backs were moving this was obvious pre-throw.

And I think he literally threw to the worst of the three options there. Totally knew what he was going to do prior to the snap. 49ers got lucky. That was the slowest developing blitz of all time.

After last night I think there's a decent chance Rodgers retires, at least temporarily, and takes a year away from football to see if he wants to continue playing elsewhere. I'm not sure how that would potentially impact any ability for GB to get anything for him in return since they only have him under contract for one more season - would that last year just get torn up and if he opts to return would he be a total free agent, or would he have to come back within the terms of that contract's last year and still be under team control if the Packers don't grant him his release?

Pretty sure he's got a wedding coming up and after all the drama surrounding him over the last calendar year (most of it self-inflicted) it wouldn't surprise me to see him take a hiatus...but not a permanent one.

That has shades of that Giant NFCCG where the pick Favre threw by throwing towards Driver showed basically every other receiver wide open for a huge play had he gone elsewhere.

Rodgers didn't have a great game. But their guy was downright awful. Packers should be playing next week, easily, with the game Rodgers had.

Rodgers stats are misleading I admit, but when you're 19 of 25 or whatever with 200 yards and don't turn the ball over, and Jimmy's line is what it is, something went horribly wrong for you to lose. He deserves his share of blame for a bad performance but at least part of me feels bad for the guy seemingly always having to be "on" to compensate for some other catastrophic failing. Literally almost every single time.

Yes, but when you're consistently regarded as the best quarterback in the league, that's what you have to do in order to win playoff games because the roster you lead will always have limitations elsewhere to compensate for the amount of salary cap space your contract eats up.

Rodgers didn't play awful and lose them the game singlehandedly by any stretch, but he didn't play well enough by his own standards to be the difference-maker this team needs against a good opponent in a playoff game. He played like 2019 Rodgers last night, to be honest.

This is fair. Rodgers didn't have a good game. He didn't have an "awful" game. Jimmy Garrapolo had an awful game. Our special teams directly lead to a 10 point swing, which, well, we lost by 3 points, so, yeah.

Yes, Rodgers obviously can, and should have played better. There's no getting around that. In any football game that you lose by 3 points, there's any number of plays that you can say "that play could have been the difference maker". Rodgers shoulders a large part of the blame. But like you said, for once, it would have been nice if when he wasn't quite on, the special teams would have even been "subpar" instead of predictably awful, we'd be moving on to play in the NFCCG. That's all we needed from the special teams. Just not allow a blocked kick. They could have even allowed the 50 yard kick return. Or even 2 of them. Just not allow a blocked kick. That's setting the bar pretty low, and they failed.
