Rodgers is going to have a say in where he goes.

You're right on this point and it's one of the ways Rodgers' trade value can be supressed is if he comments or leaks to the media that he'll only accept a trade to one specific destination. Then his value goes down a bit and the Packers won't have much choice. The retirement card is up his sleeve too.

What killed Favre's trade value is the fact GB flat out said Rodgers was the starter heading into the season after Favre retired and stuck to it after he announced his return - everyone knew there was no way Favre was still going to be on GB's roster that season, and frankly the teams that may have offered more in a trade were all in the Packers' division so there was no way that was happening. The way the trade was structured with the Jets, I believe it had more poison pills in it had they turned around and dealt him to the Vikings that the Jets would owe GB 3 1st round picks. Plus any team interested in Favre knew he had 1, maybe 2 decent seasons left in him and they just watched him play poorly against the Giants in the NFCCG.

With this offseason, if Rodgers does indeed want out (or if GB management is very open to entertaining trade options), there isn't going to be as much certainty that Rodgers won't be allowed back in the building should a trade not happen and training camp rolls around - and Rodgers probably could play at a high level for 3-5 more seasons if he really wanted to. I'm not saying it's going to go down the same way Favre ended, a trade will happen early in the offseason before the draft if that's how this shakes out...and there will be plenty of suitors that should improve a trade package to deal him.

I think they really missed Tonyan in the red zone

The earliest the Packer’s could trade Rogers is March 16, 2022

Yep...even a slot receiver that can win a 1-on-1 consistently and move the chains. They were having to move Adams inside just to try much of the year just to try and keep defensive coverages guessing. Cobb was an option at times with the right matchups before he got hurt, but he's a shell of what he was. And Deguara just hasn't been a consistent pass catching TE, unfortunately.

Which is 6-7 weeks before the draft, so yes - early in the offseason....the new league year intentionally doesn't start for a month after the Super Bowl so front offices can sort out personnel decisions inside their building that have cap implications and all teams can get coaches/GM hires made. That doesn't mean we won't know whether Rodgers is going to be traded or not well before mid-march, it just means the actual transaction can't happen until then.

Not sure why the 49ers would want Rodgers. Sure he makes them better but then they have to pay more than for Grapolo plus give up picks. They kind of went almost all in on Trey Lance already. Edited by logan82

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Not just there. They missed him in the middle of the field. He's not just big, he is a matchup problem for a secondary that is not very good to begin with. I'm not big on dumping on a single player emotionally and TV doesn't give you great angles to evaluate, so I don't know what Rodgers was seeing tonight. But it felt like nobody not named Adams was even glanced at.

Somebody else had to get involved in the offense. Those that have said the lack of a 2nd WR would hurt them may have been right. Or maybe Rodgers didn't do enough. I'm not sure. After the obvious ST for the ages that many of us feared, that was the single biggest reason they lost tonight.

Once SF settled in and took away the stuff underneath, they were never tested vertically at ALL.

yeah theres zero chance he goes to the Niners. they gave up a ton of picks to get Lance.

In no particular order of best fit, the teams I can see seriously wanting Rodgers, having draft/player capital to deal for him, and be a spot Rodgers would be happy going to and GB would be fine sending to include (IMO):

Seattle

Tampa Bay (TB12 retirement pending)

New Orleans

Philly

Giants (NY is a draw for a personality no matter what)

Vegas

Denver

Pittsburgh

Miami

If a trade does materialize, there will be enough suitors to drive up the pricetag even if Rodgers limits options on where he wants to go play. Also this list is with a big caveat that 2022 salary cap issues face several of these teams and would probably prohibit them making a run at a QB that would instantly take up at least 20% of their cap budget.

If MLF is taking all the blame for this loss, he should do right by the fans and just quit. This was a historical failure that only resignation can cure. He’s just full of it. It would be better off to just skip the postgame presser than to give us the tripe he handed out today. He does not give the fans any credit for their knowledge. Please be a little honest with us Matt, instead of shoveling that crap out to us. He should have just a little bit of integrity instead of being a total jerk. Edited by Lezcano16

If the 49ers were going to acquire Rodgers it would have been this past off season.

I actually think GB wins this on the road. Seems like the weather hurt GB more than SF.

All the players and coaches would love to skip the pressers.

Man Rodgers is getting just skewered today. He has really become footballs version of a pro wrestling heel.

I think 2 firsts is likely. They may benefit from how well Brady has played at his age. What may hurt them though is that teams are basically going to know the Packers have to deal him if they're taking the calls this year. Last year, keeping him was a card they held. Feels like they may not have it to play anymore.

Night all. Sorry it did not work out...again.

Yet the Patriots got nothing for Brady. The Colts got nothing for Manning. Brady was a free agent, but they could have structured his deals to keep him under contract with the intention of keeping trade leverage.

Teams don't give up huge draft capital for QBs pushing 40, even elite ones. I can't think of one instance. Ever.

They'll get something....but two 1s would surprise me. I think people will be very disappointed. They have no leverage. Teams know we're moving on, and Rodgers will have say in where he goes, they can't just have a bidding war for him.
