I assumed 28 would be plenty against the Chicago Bears, but the Packers' special teams had other plans.

I just got to halftime on the DVR, but here are my mid-game raw thoughts:

 

1) There was a better CB than Kevin King on another team’s practice squad, but Green Bay still gave King $6 million to return for one more year.

 

2) I guarantee Tom Brady has never had to deal with a ST poop show like this, but your average NFL fan will continue to heap praise on him. Tom Brady may be the GOAT, but he’s not 7x better than Rodgers.

 

3) If I’m the Packers, I don’t punt unless they’re in an impossible conversion scenario. Just keep giving Rodgers 4 tries to convert and hope he comes through.

I just got to halftime on the DVR, but here are my mid-game raw thoughts:

 

1) There was a better CB than Kevin King on another team’s practice squad, but Green Bay still gave King $6 million to return for one more year.

 

2) I guarantee Tom Brady has never had to deal with a ST poop show like this, but your average NFL fan will continue to heap praise on him. Tom Brady may be the GOAT, but he’s not 7x better than Rodgers.

 

3) If I’m the Packers, I don’t punt unless they’re in an impossible conversion scenario. Just keep giving Rodgers 4 tries to convert and hope he comes through.

 

C'mon, #1 is pretty silly. Forget that Douglas was under contract with the Raiders all summer, if they let king walk and signed Rasul Douglas as a starter they would have been ridiculed all summer. I don't think the Packers even thought he'd do what he's done. This just sounds like a really odd take, like some weird gymnastics to find a way to criticize a fantastic midseason signing. Actually believing this would require someone to think they knew in the spring that Rasul Douglas was an upgrade to King.

One other reason I just kinda feel like it's probably time to move on from Mason in 2022 is that his leg strength just isn't a great fit for our coverage units. They need a strong legged kicker who is pretty much an auto TB guy on kickoffs, Mason just doesn't have the leg strength that he used to.

I personally believe that a piece of debris randomly blowing across the field at any given time would be an upgrade over King, so, I mean, there you go.
