Brewers trade for Hunter Renfroe in exchange for Jackie Bradley Jr., David Hamilton and Alex Binelas

Bummed to see the prospects go in this one. Alex Binelas and David Hamilton were both players I had high hopes for. Both had a tantalizing tool, in Binelas’s case power and in Hamilton’s case speed.

That being said, I certainly understand why they made this trade.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Wow, I like this if only because I don't have to see jbj hit for us again. And I use the word hit loosely. Edited by young guns

Seems like a great financial move. Getting near identical production to Avi back in Renfroe, but saving a lot of money since Renfroe will cost less than Avi, while also purging the JBJ contract.

Binelas is a tough loss. At least, he looked great in low A.

Well, I didn't think they'd be able to get rid of JBJ. Does it sting to lose the prospects? Absolutely. But Renfroe fills a big hole for us: power hitting rightfielder.

If I remember right, he's not the good of a fielder - but not awful.

I'm hoping to see .250 and 30 HR from the guy.

I liked the prospects, but they're prospects, and there's a tendency to like your own prospects as a fan.

Renfroe should definitely hit, so there's that. And we don't have to pay another guy who's basically dead weight anymore. I'm fine with it. But I anticipate JBJ going back to his regular performance. I don't know if it would have happened in Milwaukee.

What we really need is for Christian Yelich to hit again.

Probably won’t like it as much when Renfroe and his .272 career OBP against RHP is batting everyday in the middle of our lineup.

No offense, but what is wrong with some posters on this forum. People are complaining about a MIRACLE TRADE?? :laughing Renfroe is projected to out-hit Avisail Garcia next year and we just landed him for an untradeable player.

If the Brewers can get a .250/.320/.480 line out of him I'm OK with it, but I don't know if he can do that. This team has many guys with low batting average and OBPs, but in effect they swapped out lots of JBJ at bats. So should be an improvement from that perspective. I was hoping for better, but not a bad move. Still want another high quality RH hitter for 1B, but we might have to rely on Brosseau / Hiura.

Renfroe is a weak side platoon bat that we had to trade two decent prospects for because Stearns made an atrocious signing the year before. Yay!

Where is this angst you are referring to?

It’s a good trade given the circumstances they were facing, but I think it’s okay to have some conflicted feelings about it. It’s an upgrade for the current MLB team, so I’m certainly happy about that part.

Renfroe has a 904 OPS against lefties in his career.

The #16 and #17 prospect in a weak farm system and an untradeable contract for a guy who is better than Avisail Garcia, Trey Mancini, Jeff McNeil, take your pick of trade target darlings on here.

The negativity on this forum is really draining. I don't get it.
