Fielder on HOF ballot

I hope Bonds never gets in... NEVER!

I’m right there with you. I’ll add Clemens, Schilling, Rose and ARod to that list.

Can I ask what Schilling did during his playing career that would disqualify him from HOF consideration?

Simply being a jerk hasn't stopped dozens of guys from being enshrined.

A conspiracy following racist.

A conspiracy following racist.

That may be true, but has nothing to do at all with his playing career.

People are too lazy today to actually teach and would rather just hide everything they do not like about people.

You can recognize someone for doing something good without actually praising them or even believing in what they believe. For example you could teach someone that Schilling was a good pitcher in MLB but his personal life should be something that you should not do. You get to teach someone both a positive and a negative human beings are not perfect and the more you learn from one another on what to do and what not to do the better. Society right now is going away from that or at least it seems that way.

Now back on topic I hope Bonds and Clemens get in. They may have used steroids but so were others in the league at the time now that doesn't make it right it is just what happened. The league was promoting McGwire when they fully knew he was juicing the stuff was sitting out in his locker during interviews. Bonds and Clemens were two of the best players in all of baseball during the steroid era and it would criminal not to put them in the HOF.

Just because terrible people/cheaters/questionable characters were indicted into the HOF in the past doesn't mean terrible people/cheaters/questionable characters have to be in the future. I'm not saying anyone on the list is necessarily those things (ok, Schilling definitely is), but if a voter thinks a guy shouldn't be in for some non-on field performance reason, then they shouldn't feel they need to vote for that player just because Ty Cobb got elected before color photography.

Ty Cobb was a prick but everything else that was written about him was false or overly exaggerated.

One bad book with very poor and bad sources and everyone believes it and continues the lies.

What about shillings career is HOF? The 3k strikeouts? Other than that I'm not sure what qualifies him.. 6 AS in 20 years? Zero cy Young's? Him pitching with a bloody sock? Politics aside, he is a product of longevity

For me it's a big NO on Sheffield , numbers are very good. Not great. But thing for me is how he played his way out of Milwaukee. That's just not a hall of famer.

For me it's also a no on Bonds . The whole steroid thing and the fact he had some much body armor on there was no place you could pitch to him.

He's an 80 WAR pitcher with a career 127 ERA+ while being a complete badass in the postseason.

He's clearly HOF-worthy on his career.

All of the other stuff is in the discussion, but he's earned it on the field. He has the best resume of any eligible pitcher not in the hall as far as I can tell (non-obvious steroid users).
