Packer 2021 Team Discussion 2.0

There's a lot of recruiting by a city when it comes to a big company considering moving a lot of jobs there. Local taxes are obviously big, but they also want recreation opportunities in order to recruit employees to fill those positions, and sports teams add to that.

This is the hidden value, unfortunately it's impossible to quantify. For example, I can tell you Giannis/Bucks have raised Milwaukee's profile exponentially across the world. What does that mean in terms of companies adding a location here? I have no idea, and I doubt anyone does. But if you're based in Ireland, China, Italy....wherever, Milwaukee/ Wisconsin is now on your radar at least when you're considering where to put your facility in the Midwest.

If i had to hazard a guess, that impact is not insignificant. Marginal maybe? Definitely matters more to Milwaukee than it would New York, LA, Miami.

As nice as it would be to hold the #1 seed, the #2 seed is a nice consolation price. It at least guarantees a second home game if they win on Wild Card weekend. The #4 seed would likely have to play the Cardinals or Rams division runner-up in the first round. That’s a draw I’d like to avoid.

I personally think the Packers will stomp either the Rams or Cardinals. There is only one team that concerns me and it's Tampa. And I think it's either us or them out of the NFC. If the standings hold we'll be playing them in the 2nd round. But with the NFC so top-heavy the seeds appear not to matter all that much aside from the one team getting a week off. I'd rather lose to Tampa in the 2nd round than the 3rd if we're going to blow this again.

The #1 seed has a good chance of playing a 12-5 (or similar) Rams team in their first game. There aren't any real gimmes. Home Field doesn't give me any confidence with the Packers anymore, but getting a week off with all of our injuries would be nice.

That's how I see it, although I think playing AZ at home vs on the road is a huge difference in January. I see yet another shoot-out that could go either way in AZ, but Packers would would win comfortably at Lambeau.

What is the earliest the Packers have ever clinched a playoff spot?

Imagine a 15-1 season holds this distinction in the SB Era.

The Packers beat the Lions on November 24th to go 11-0 that year. The Lions (with the 2nd best record in the division) went to 7-4 with the loss so they still would not have clinched. The Packers had a bye and then went 12-0 on Dec 4th and the Lions lost to go to 7-5. That would have clinched so it looks like they clinched a week sooner that year.

He asked a playoff spot so I believe at 11-0 they had. I looked back and that actually is their only 15-1 season. Felt like in late 90s we would have had 1 but 13-3 seasons.

Alexander is back at practice

This would be so, so huge. Douglas and Stokes (and at times King) have performed very well during most of his absence, but man would it be nice having Jaire shutting down WR1s and then dropping the other CBs on the roster down a peg on the depth chart to improve coverage units in general.

Getting Alexander back and sliding everyone else down a peg could really free up Amos to start wrecking havoc. I could see him baiting QBs more into deep throws or blitzing on key downs. It could also help the defense deal with more mobile QBs, like when they play the Ravens.

I wouldn't expect a Jaire return to be inevitable. Probably just starting to ramp up again. I would guess it's going to be a couple weeks at least before we see him active in a game.

Which is just fine - still 5 more regular season games left. Goal should frankly be to have him ready to play for the playoffs, hopefully with 1 or 2 weeks of regular season game action to make sure he's full go. Hoping Bakh and Z. Smith are back on the field a bit sooner than that...

News on Cobb is disappointing, but also kind of should be expected given the fact he never could seem to stay healthy for a full season when he was younger, too - hope he's able to return by the end of this year, but actually not very optimistic about it.

That is nuts. I doubt we will ever see those numbers again in my lifetime.

After the graphic on the game Sunday night I'd be kind of excited to see us pass the Bears on the all time franchise wins list this year. Only 2 wins back now.

I checked when they said that and in 1921 only the Packers,Bears, and Cardinals existed among current teams. So one of those stats fun to bring up during the rivalry but is only relevant to those 3 teams.

Packers already lead all time in Championships (13) & winning percentage (.573), once they pass the Bears for wins they'll have the triple crown.

Yes I was interested after posting to see the numbers Cardinals are way down on list so amount of years/games isn't everything.
