Packer 2021 Team Discussion 2.0

For the record, do I think Brady may win MVP? Yes, 100%. Do I think he should? No. I think he IS a better leader than Rodgers, where I differ with Turbo is that there isn't a clear separation between their play. Rodgers has been better, a lot better.

Rodgers has not been a LOT better, it just isn't so.

Brady has 1000 more yards than Rodgers, and 5 more TDs.

Yes, he obviously threw the ball more, he had to with so many injuries to their RBs, plus throwing the ball is a big part of their offense. Also, with so many receiving weapons (when healthy) it makes sense he threw the ball so much more, which also accounts for Brady having so many more INT. It goes without saying, if you throw the ball more, you have the opportunity to throw more interceptions.

I agree with you, Brady or Rodgers may win the MVP, but in the end, it doesn't really matter. I'm sure both players would rather have another Lombardi than another MVP award.

You keep pointing out that Brady has thrown for more yards/TD’s when trying to discount people that say Rodgers has been better than Brady but that really doesn’t help your argument.

In those extra 169 attempts, he’s completed 61.5% of his passes for 1013 yards and a 5/6 TD to INT ratio. That is good for a whopping 73.4 passer rating and that is equivalent to Justin Fields numbers for the year (29th in the league).

So you are correct that Brady has thrown more than Rodgers this year but he’s been pretty bad in those extra attempts.

Edit: looks like work got in the way and others added some good info towards that before my post.

Both Bakh and Jaire back at practice today. Fingers crossed both can get some work Sunday.

Edit: Bakh full practice today and is questionable for Sunday. Jaire out for Sunday. Worlds Biggest Jerk/Possibly Bad Person also back at practice the last couple of days, but I don’t think he will or should play.

Boomer Esiason shared this morning on his WFAN radio show a text from a source who claims that Rodgers will threaten to boycott the Super Bowl (the Packers would first have to make it, of course) if the NFL doesn’t eliminate some of the COVID protocols.

lol

I feel bad for the beat writers that have to ask the follow up question to him. Probably drawing straws between them.

edit: so Boomer was hoaxed I guess. What a dork.

Bakh and Myers expected to play against DET, Jaire ruled out.

Rodgers and Jordan Love have both taken to Twitter to call that story the nonsense that it is. The thought that an ultra competitive guy like Rodgers would boycott a chance to win his second title is literally insane.

How dumb can one really be to believe that story and run with it.

I mean, come on man.

So Packers getting Myers and Bakhtiari back tomorrow?

As of today, the 2021 cap is finalized. The Packers will carry over $3.1 million into next year’s cap, and they will likely need every penny.

If Preston Smith get a sack, will his $750k bonus count toward next season then?

As that was NLTBE, it would be counted against the 22 cap. Same with the weird Rodgers NLTBE that he’ll get a million if they score a defensive TD today….

We’re any of these NLTBE incentives hit today?

I don’t like the way the Wild Card schedule fell.

The Rams and Cardinals play on Monday. I can’t see the NFL making the winner play the following Saturday. That means unless the the Eagles or 49ers score upset victories, the Packers will be playing their divisional game on Sunday, while the Cowboys and Bucs play on Saturday. If the Packers win their divisional playoff game, they’ll have one less day of rest vs. their NFCCG opponent.

Z cleared for playoffs!

Rapoport reporting he will return to practice and is expected to be ready to play.

Very rarely do you see teams get substantially healthier come playoff time, but it appears that Bahktiari, Alexander and Za'Darius, not to mention Myers, Cobb and Turner, could all be good to go for the Divisional round. Would have been nice to see a few of those guys who didn't get in there get some reps yesterday, but I'm sure they can ramp up in practice. I would imagine Alexander will take his typical boundary corner spot, pushing Douglas into the slot position. Z will likely be a designated pass rusher, but would be a welcome addition to Preston and Gary. And a O-line of Turner, Patrick, Myers, Runyan and Bahk, with Kelly, Newman and Nijman in reserve is very strong. Don't underestimate the value of having Cobb out there at Rodgers' security blanket too. Lazard has stepped into that role quite nicely, but Cobb and Rodgers have a mind meld.

I would say there's probably at least as good of a chance of one of the Eagles or 49ers winning as neither winning.

Agreed. I see the Eagles putting up a very good fight against an extremely depleted Bucs team. 49ers are just plucky enough to give the Cowboys a game too. All three NFC matchups are going to be pretty fun next weekend, as Rams/Cards is a pretty even match.

Not so much on the AFC side, though. I think the Bengals are going to whoop the Raiders, and the Bills should have no problem with the Patriots, at least on paper. The Chiefs are going to annihilate the Steelers.

It would amount to like another 17 hours of rest. I think a smidge too much of a deal is being made of it. We get a week off and don't travel which trumps any kind of scheduling advantage. We also played on Saturday night as a 6 seed the year we won the SB, so I imagine this sort of things happens a lot.

I see the Rams blowing out the Cards and the Eagles putting up a gutsy showing but ultimately not keeping it all that close. SF/DAL is the one that I definitely think can swing either way.

The playoffs are wide open more than any year i can remember across the board, because even the best teams have flaws and there aren't two teams that have a bye in each conference

This is a great year to have the bye, if only because it is one fewer game to win to reach the super bowl than all the other teams and you are playing at home.

I'd give the Packers 50% chance at reaching the super bowl and the rest of the field gets the other 50% in the NFC, primarily because of the bye.

I don't think the Eagles should be overlooked by Tampa.

Bucs beat them 28-22 this season, with Tampa starting out with a big lead, only to have Philly chip away throughout the second half.

Luckily, this one will be played at Raymond James.
