Wisconsin Badgers vs Rutgers Scarlet Knights game thread

Oxy
Well that is 6 wins. Given how bad they looked at the beginning of the season there was a chance they might have missed a bowl altogether this year. Still could see them dropping the Minnesota game which could keep them from being pounded by Ohio State. In general everything has improved except Mertz. Not sure what you do about that. (I hear maybe the Mannings have a QB camp?)

Badgers have quietly won 5 straight? And are suddenly in contention for their Division? That’s pretty cool. Their young RB seems a stud. Nice to see them make something of their early woes.

I know some of it is lesser competition but they are most definitely improving.

Agreed that it's against Rutgers so it's hard to get a gauge on anyone, but I thought Julius Davis looked good enough where I really have to wonder why Schipper has been getting snaps in earlier games.

Two things - 1) the Badgers rarely disclose injuries beyond the two-deep unless it's a guy who is definitely out for the game or out for the season and he suffered a minor meniscus tear in the spring so he may not have been healthy, and B) Schipper is a deemed a better pass blocker and thus why Schipper has mostly been in on 3rd down.

Rutgers notwithstanding, laugher-type wins vs. Purdue and Iowa are going to look pretty good come season end.

I hate saying "they shoulda won" because usually you shouldn't have but that Penn St game....it's one thing if the other team forces you into a fumble, it's another when you just muff a handoff.

Yeah, the Penn State game is the one they'll look back to at the end of the year as the one that got away. That may end up being the difference between still playing in the Rose Bowl with a loss to OSU in the Big Ten Championship and the seemingly inevitable trip back to the Citrus or Outback Bowl.

Yup, exactly right. I think I said that sometime last week too on PSU, really had no business losing that game but blew it twice at the GL.

As someone just said, with OSU only being ok lately (for OSU standards) they still have to play both Michigans to finish. If the Mich schools don't lose any other game but one beats OSU they'll make the title game over OSU. So maybe we could get a fresh matchup and feel a bit more confident. Granted, both teams look good and Mich trucked us once already. But still, I think we'd all have a better attitude or confidence/hope if it's anyone but OSU.

Ugh, the PSU game. I went to it, and watching the Badgers run 95 plays and get 10 points...I had no words. Part of it was I took young kids and any words I might have used would have been bad. Also, I probably hate PSU more than any other Big Ten team. Losing to them is the worst. That is the only game I wish they had back.

I've been too a ton of football games in my life and I think I would comfortably say the PSU game was the worst one I've been to. Rainy/drizzle type weather the whole time. Basically nothing happened the whole 1H and lots of running the ball yet it was over a 2 hour half due to B1G Noon kickoff 6 minute commercials. Both teams played badly and did all they could to try and not win the game, classic 'does either team want to win this' type game. Summary, a bad weather, boring low action game that still managed to take like 4 hours or more.

guess I do have to note I was at 59-0 but I try to black that one out, And well at least it was indoors and that OSU team was ridiculous to watch, tons of big plays, etc
