Game 8: Packers @ Arizona - Thursday, October 28th, 7:20pm

The D has played outstanding outside of the long pass. Love that they’re in the lead and hopeful the large TOP wears them down in the 2nd half. What scares me is the Packers have played for the most part really well and are only up 3. I’m happy to be wrong on my blowout call. The D looks super fast today.

If we had Davante and Lazard and MVS I'd be happy with a 10 - 7 lead.

On the other hand, Rodgers hasn't really done much, and if the Packers continue to run the ball, maybe the pass game will open up a bit in the 2nd half and Tonyan and Cobb and A. Rodgers will grab some throws and we'll get a few more scores.

I'd say I mostly agree with this take. They've played really well. They should have more than 10 points. Playcalling and poor presnap decisions are the reason for the lack of cushion despite playing well.

Having to play a guy like Winfrey is definitely something that cost the Packers on that last drive. Big drop by him likely cost us points.

Weren't you calling for a blowout loss? You should be happy with a 3pt lead at half.

Yeah. I was. That literally has nothing to do with me not liking them settling for a Hail Mary

Is it settling for a Hail Mary if you don't get past midfield? There is in fact a defense in the way.

They ran a ton of time off the play clock the play before the hail mary. There was no urgency the last minute

Wasting timeouts is always a funny critique to me, particularly in the 1st half. We literally have no idea why they are used.

I would love to read a study on the "value" of a timeout. So if it's the 1st quarter and you are on your own 10 yard line on 3rd and long is it worth calling a TO if the play clock is running down? Or just take your medicine and save the TO for late in the half.

You don't think this team frequently not having timeouts for an effective 2 or 4 minute drill is a legitimate critique? I find that to be quite an odd take. It seems regularly acknowledged by most that this team wastes too many timeouts. I understand the occasional presnap timeout in key situations but it's definitely excessive with this offense relative to league averages.

I think without Adams and Lazard it is going to be tough sledding in the throw game. Hopefully they can complete enough and run well enough to get it done.

I would too. I think in general the value of a timeout is probably more than the 5 yards that a team saves to use one.

I think it's one of those things that most teams do but something people only notice their own team do. I don't really stress about the use of 1st half timeouts. They sometimes end up unused anyway. I don't like using to avoid a delay of game in the 3rd quarter, but I feel pretty confident that all teams do the stupid "we have the wrong personnel group" timeouts in the 1st and 2nd quarter. Just that nobody cares when the other team does it.

I think they’ve lost 4 coin tosses in a row. They’re 2-6 on the season. Sooner or later, it’s going to cost them a possession.

Other than that, it’s hard to complain. I’m very pleased to be leading at halftime. I honestly thought it’d be about 21-7 Cardinals by this point.

No, we waste more.

I understand this is a few years old, but the trend hasn't changed. I don't have the data for this season, but I'd be shocked if it isn't similar.
