I had no idea about the LSU coach being fired a week before the first game.  That must have been tough for all of the LSU players to adjust to.

I have watched most of the LSU games this year.  They are very athletic but do not shoot it well or get to the free throw line.  Days and Eason are really the only two shooters on the team.  The coach, Will Wade, has been under investigation for a couple of years.  An audio tape surfaced publicly that revealed him talking about "making an offer" to a player.  LSU did not immediately fire him but did restructure his contract to add a clause that he could be fired "for cause."  LSU was recently informed of the NCAA findings of this investigation, though they have not been made public, just before his firing.  Needless to say everyone down here is expecting the hammer to drop on the program soon.

Iowa State really, really struggles to score. I like the Badgers chances in a game that's going to be a grind. Not many teams tougher IMO.

I hope you guys are right, last night was the first time I saw them it looked like they had at least one good shooter. Really hoping to get to Kansas in the elite 8, they have somehow avoided playing the Badgers for like 50 years.

Kalscheur (sp?) Is the shooter, I think. Minnesota transfer. Gard should have a good scouting report on him.

I mean, stuff happens in March. 40 minute game. Short 3-point line. Badgers should be a 2-1 favorite (and, turns out, this is exactly what 538 has). I think they get it done.

In any case, this is exactly where you want to be. This was great placement for Wisconsin. Now just have to take advantage.

Before tip, I'll say this:

Win or lose, Gard's the right guy for this program. 7 seasons. 5 NCAA tourneys (6, really, bc...2020). 2 Sweet Sixteens. Only one first round loss. 6-4 all-time tournament play. Reset the program after the best coach in Badger history.

Maybe the most consistent program in the country outside of the elite brands since 2000.

As expected, a pretty ugly first half.  Looked to me like Davis was trying the ol’ “put the team on my shoulders and try to win this game all by myself” for a little while.

Chucky’s injury looked bad.  Guys need to step up.

Hmm, things are looking a little dicey.  Some pressing to score, some refs being whistle-happy (both ways, thankfully), and just some poor shooting.

They’ve got a half of a half to get it figured out, or it’s curtains.

refs letting a lot go...until they just decide not to

Not going to win too many games shooting 1 for 16 from 3.

Yeah a shooting slump was always going to be their downfall you just hoped they would get hot for the tourney. Disappointing to lose as it appears they likely will but they were just a too thin to suffer any injuries and have foul trouble to boot.

The tournament should adopt a new rule that if by the under 8 minute TV timeout neither team has eclipsed 50 points, they both get eliminated and the team opposite them in the next round gets a forfeit win so they don't have to suffer playing against such horrible offense.

I get that there is some really terrible officiating across the whole tournament...but shoot the damn ball!
