Wisconsin Basketball Thread 2021-2022

winning on the road against Purdue and Michigan State in the same season is no small feat

These Badgers are pretty good when healthy and defending. Very tough even if they don't wow you, but they beat you just the same. Typical Wisconsin is what I'm saying.

The toughness, defense and rebounding is typical WI, but offensively this team (and by "team" I MAINLY mean Johnny Davis) takes (and makes!) more bad shots shots than any UW team in the past 25 years.

Yea Davis and Davison shooting like garbage so this is a close game. Rutgers is better than their record, not sure if they had injuries or something but with Harper and Baker somehow still there they're better than their record shows. I guess as evidence by two recent Ws vs MSU and OSU. Need the Davis-ons to just make a couple here late and get out of here with a win

Kind of felt that one coming, both because Rutgers is basically playing for its life, and Wisconsin was in classic let-down position after the win Tuesday.

The part that stings is that that's a real blow to the B1G title hopes. I care about that a medium amount, I guess.

This team looks to me like it'll settle into the 4-5 seed range, and we'll hope we don't draw a mediocre Power 5 team with lots of athleticism and size in the first two rounds.

Pretty pathetic performance.

Yea that was pretty bad.

They could take a 20-point beat down in Rutgers in a week.

Rutgers shot 58% from 3 and 89% from the line; their season averages are 34% and 71%. They should have made three less 3-point shots and three less FTs which was more than the difference in the game.

What a game. Bunch of tough guys. Love seeing em win at Assembly.

Yeah, the fire is there for sure. They play so together on the road. It's on of my favorite things about Wisconsin as a program, and it's the big thing making me optimistic for March.

Wisconsin seems to be the best version of itself when it's got one real pro. Harris, Leueur, Kaminsky, Tucker (who didn't have a great career but was a lottery pick IIRC). Then, a bunch of tough role guys and guards that rebound.

This year's team fits that mold. They just have to find an outside shot.

Heck of a win last night. Davis had some really pretty shots in the clutch, only touching the bottom of the net. I agree, they are going to have to hit 3's in the tournament to make a run. They will be tough to deal with for most teams, especially if Davis can put the team on his back when needed.

loss to Rutgers might not look so bad after today

Rutgers is not a bad basketball team. 15-9 and a pretty decent set of wins against some solid BigTen teams. This would be their fourth consecutive win and every opponent was ranked Top 20 in the country.

+1..... That's a dangerous squad that could end up doing some unexpected stuff down the stretch.

Illinois loses, opens up the door for Wisconsin to grab a part of the regular season title. I doubt any of the 4 loss teams will win out...in my opinion. 5 loses probably can get a piece of the pie.

Illinois probably has the upper hand to win it with 4 losses. Outside of their road game against MSU they should be winning all those games. If they steal the road win that may be enough...but that is a big ask.

Looking at the Badgers schedule you just feel like they will likely lose one of Mich, @Min, @Rutgers so it would come down to beating Purdue at home. But who knows, this team keeps surprising me.

I mean, they did beat Purdue on the road already, so it isn't that far fetched. Maybe the tables turn this time, but they could also go and beat Rutgers to flip that script.

They are going to have to play well, that is for sure. I do think they can afford a loss though. I doubt they can afford a second one though.

That site doesn't matter as this is the official selection committee so they are a 4 as of this article.
