When Yelich came up I was absolutely hoping for him to try to bunt toward third. It’s pitiful to say that for a hitter in the 3 spot, but I thought a bunt would give him a chance for a hit to load the bases and at least move the runners up.

Our fifth starter against their ace in an elimination game ... yeah, that makes sense.

We did not have a choice.

Sorry, I don't believe that. We are mismanaged. We are outmanaged.

Burnes admitted he was not physically ready to pitch today.

Burnes admitted he was not physically ready to pitch today.

How could he be?

He spent the last 6 weeks with 6 or more days of rest between starts, and we want him to pitch on 3 days rest?

Burnes was never an option for game 4.

Best we can manage with a guy struggling to locate is a weak grounder that wasn't quite weak enough.

0 for 19 with RISP. Record is 0 for 22. At this rate, might match that by next inning.

Be sharp, Lauer. Morton had to work. That's the glimmer of hope.

0 for 19 is reaching improbable status. You'd figure on even some sort of dumb luck hit happening, like a broken bat flair that finds the grass. It's remarkable to see how bad the offense has been.

The good news is Morton was struggling in the first inning and threw a ton of pitches. They were dreaming on 4 innings, looking like 3 is more realistic. Even if we can hit Morton there is another 5-6 innings they will need to cover.

And it looks like the Braves can’t score from second with no outs either!
