Maybe I have a different memory but I seem to recall CC throwing for us on short rest and then getting lit up in a playoff game that was over before it started?

Hey now - facts are no match for the Legend of CC Sabathia, the Greatest Rental of All Time!

You gotta admit - that was a fun half season...

No way Burnes goes tomorrow. No chance.

I don't think he starts but I think he will be available out of the pen for a couple. Probably no more than 45 or so pitches would be my guess but can help bridge to Hader.

I'd throw Woody before Burnes tomorrow. It's his side day anyway.

That is even shorter rest than Burnes. If anybody is going on short rest it would be Burnes given he would have a full day more...plus have to imagine the Brewers held off on Burnes throwing today knowing elimination was possible tomorrow

On 538 the probability of the Brewers winning the World Series has dropped to 3%.

But, regardless of those odds, I prefer to focus on the Brewers chances of winning tomorrow, and then again on Thursday, and then go from there.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Whether or not the Brewers start Lauer, Burnes, or the ghost of Cy Young tomorrow, they are going home if they continue to hit like the last 2 games.

I'd include all 3 games....they are fortunate to still be alive, actually.

Yes. They've been thoroughly dominated. This could easily have been a sweep. Not much to do now other than try to win tomorrow and go from there.

Yep and then going with Suppan to start in an elimination game instead of Gallardo, over in the first inning. At least there is no temptation to start Anderson.

I’m probably the last one to bail on Yelich, but it’s sad what’s happened to him. Heck, Braun at his age would have been more likely to come through if he were playing left instead. Braun comes up with two on and two out, and he will hit a two run double. He doesn’t give a crap about pressure.

So we don't score in 2 games and the problem is that we tried to score with 2nd and 3rd and nobody out by PHing for Peralta? That seems like exactly the move you'd make when you know you can't score runs.

Yes, agreed. I think it was the correct call based on the circumstances. It was their absolute best chance to score and change the position of the game. The turning point wasn't taking Peralta out, it was not scoring with runners at 2nd-3rd and nobody out.

Gotta win 2 in a row. It's been done before :)

Trying to read through this gamethread after getting home from work and don't have any more patience to get through it. I obviously couldn't watch the game, and thank God I didn't, but I did keep tabs on the score and personal stats. When I saw Peralta got pulled after four innings, no runs, three hits and 57 pitches, I automatically thought that Counsell was an idiot for doing so. Then I saw Houser's line and my feelings were confirmed to be true. This on the heels of pinch hitting for Pina on Saturday and Counsell is having a bad series. However, all his bad decisions aren't going to outweigh the fact that this offense sucks and will most likely be the death of this team in 1-3 days. The offense needs to be upgraded immensely this winter. That's not even debatable. That includes letting Haines go. He has to take the fall for this failure once and for all. That's my rant. See you tomorrow.

Man we picked the absolute wrong time to revert to April/May bats. Can’t win any series scoring 2 runs in 3 games. Hopefully we can turn it around some and get a Game 5 back in Milwaukee. At this point, however, the odds have to favor the Braves.

Brutal. Nothing much to be said other than the offense has 9 innings to pull their heads out.

And for me, Counsell is the best manager in baseball who made a poor decision (not idiotic, not moronic, just poor) that backfired.

Also, I think they should start Lauer tomorrow and save Burnes/Woodruff for a theoretical Thursday game.

Get 'em tomorrow boys.

Who would've been a good option to pinch hit? Because right now Peralta or any pitcher for that matter is no worse.
