Peralta would almost definitely be available for 2-3 innings in a game 5. Would be his scheduled day to throw between starts anyways.

Also dont think Woodruff would be on any limitations. No reason Woodruff and Peralta couldn't cover 8 innings to get to Hader.

There is a lot of ball left for this team - far from dead.

The whole point of having pitching depth is so you don't have to use Burnes on short rest tomorrow.

We are sort of playing for our season tomorrow, haven't scored a run since Game 1 and our "pitching depth" is not Corbin Burnes.

I still would want my #1 in an elimination game. Does no use in game 5 if you don’t win game #4.

Also, CC Sabathia is rolling in his grave (I know he’s alive) at this short rest talk…

It's 2 elimination games. They both matter exactly the same. What configuration gives us the best chance of winning both?

My money is on Burnes and Woodruff starting.

Edit: and having Lauer relieve Burnes and Peralta relieve Woodruff.

If CC were alive he would have taken over in the 5th inning, threw a shutout the rest of the way, and then started game 4 to close the series out.

Maybe I have a different memory but I seem to recall CC throwing for us on short rest and then getting lit up in a playoff game that was over before it started?

So we don't score in 2 games and the problem is that we tried to score with 2nd and 3rd and nobody out by PHing for Peralta? That seems like exactly the move you'd make when you know you can't score runs.

Yeah I don't understand the bickering over putting a PH in that situation it was the correct call and it just didn't work out there. The Brewers only had one other chance to score runs in the game which they hit into a DP so CC made the right call in making the PH call in the 5th inning. When you have limited opportunities to score you have to go for scoring the runs when you can and yes that means PH for your pitcher in the 5th inning.

It didn't work out that didn't make it a bad or incorrect decision.
