You can only laugh at how this offense does exactly what the opponent wants.

If only Counsell had kept Peralta in and if Williams were available the Brewers might have had a chance to lose in extra innings.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Giving up a three-run bomb is like you're opponent drawing to a flush. It's not a very likely outcome. It might happen, but living in fear of it costs you money.

The part I find tough is anyone not acknowledging that it's a pretty tough call.

I'll take you up on that. I thought it was a really tough call. After all, the Crew have a ton of quality in the 'pen especially when you only need a 4-man rotation. Why not trust your strength - deep pitching - and take a risk to get some runs? At the same time, Freddy was dealing and looked like he could go 7 or more. It's a very, very tough call in my mind.

If Vogey hits another Vogelbomb there, statues would be commissioned for CC on the spot. It just didn't work out that way. But lets say Freddy stays in and strikes out, Brewers don't score, then Joc gets Freddy for a solo HR on a very good pitch, and the Brewers never sniff scoring position again... what would the narrative be then?

But that spot decision didn't work out. So let's fire the guy. SMH.

This just isn't true. The complaints about pulling Peralta started long before Houser entered the game. Long before Vogey even got out during his at bat. And if they didn't pinch hit for Peralta and he gave up a solo shot... the vast majority of people would not have looked back and wanted Peralta gone after 4 innings because they could have pulled him for a pinch hitter in the top of the 5th. This isn't a hindsight is 20/20 thing, the same people complaining now said they didn't like the move before anything went wrong.

I'm not sure we're on the same page. I was agreeing with CHL that it was a tough call for CC. I don't think he deserves pitchforks for making the decision he did - I didn't like it, but I understood it. And he's been right more often than wrong this year. I'm not criticizing anyone for their hindsight takes, but I just don't think it was a clear-cut decision either way.

Of course, pitching Lauer would somewhat neutralize Freeman, and keep Pederson on the bench.

Keeping Pederson on the bench has led to four out of the 7 runs that ATL has scored in the series.

I still think you go Burnes for game 4 and relieve him with Lauer. Burnes is your number 1. You pitch him in an elimination game if you can.
