Giving up a three-run bomb is like you're opponent drawing to a flush. It's not a very likely outcome. It might happen, but living in fear of it costs you money.

The part I find tough is anyone not acknowledging that it's a pretty tough call.

I'll take you up on that. I thought it was a really tough call. After all, the Crew have a ton of quality in the 'pen especially when you only need a 4-man rotation. Why not trust your strength - deep pitching - and take a risk to get some runs? At the same time, Freddy was dealing and looked like he could go 7 or more. It's a very, very tough call in my mind.

If Vogey hits another Vogelbomb there, statues would be commissioned for CC on the spot. It just didn't work out that way. But lets say Freddy stays in and strikes out, Brewers don't score, then Joc gets Freddy for a solo HR on a very good pitch, and the Brewers never sniff scoring position again... what would the narrative be then?

But that spot decision didn't work out. So let's fire the guy. SMH.

So now what?

Lauer and Burnes for Game 4?

Woodruff and Peralta for Game 5?

Lauer game 4. Burnes game 5.

I like your optimism for game 5 though

But to be honest we are probably looking at a 5-1 loss tomorrow maybe 7-2 or something like that

Some team will hit the ball this series and it wont be us

In the Brewers' defense, last offseason they did put a full court press on Justin Turner, who would have been the exact type of hitter you are seeking. It also came out that they tried to acquire Kevin Newman. Unfortunately neither worked out but it isn't like they don't realize what their deficiencies are.

It's a very positive sign that they're targeting guys like that.

Why wouldn’t we go with Burnes for game 4, and Woodruff for game 5? I’d want our best pitchers in there. These will be must-win games so why not go with them?

This just isn't true. The complaints about pulling Peralta started long before Houser entered the game. Long before Vogey even got out during his at bat. And if they didn't pinch hit for Peralta and he gave up a solo shot... the vast majority of people would not have looked back and wanted Peralta gone after 4 innings because they could have pulled him for a pinch hitter in the top of the 5th. This isn't a hindsight is 20/20 thing, the same people complaining now said they didn't like the move before anything went wrong.

If that is the type of hitter they are going after, they'll eventually grab one or two. If Stearns has proven anything, it's that he isn't afraid of upsetting the apple cart, even with a team that is good on paper.

You're being results oriented.

Scroll back to before we even failed to score. This was my stance then. I said I absolutely hate this move at the commercial.

This win probability stuff is great, I refer to it all the time, but there are scenarios in which it is stupid and when your borderline Cy Young candidate SP is throwing a gem and in the FIFTH inning, I leave him in the game. Sorry, it's that simple for me. And the reason I'm acting like it wasn't a tough call, is because it was not a tough call at all for me. It's a tough call in the 7th inning. Sure. 100% agree.

Not less than half-way through a game. Call me whatever oriented you'd like.

To be honest, after Narvaez’s double, my thought was that if Cain didn’t drive in a run Counsell would have to pinch hit for Peralta. I guess I’m as dumb as Counsell is.

Despite happy talk about taking it easy and staying healthy for the playoffs, Counsell has seen what everyone else has seen. This team has been in a team wide hitting slump since mid September and that has continued in this series. Scoring chances have been few and far between and cashing in on those chances has been nonexistent. I thought he had to take his best shot at pushing a run or two across and apparently he did too.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Holy crap why do you even follow this team if you have that type of outlook? You're just making yourself miserable.

There is a lot of ball left to play before this team is dead

Lauer was better than both in the second half of the season. The only thing that might give me pause giving Lauer a start is the RHH heaviness of the Braves' lineup. Of course, pitching Lauer would somewhat neutralize Freeman, and keep Pederson on the bench.

To the talk above on targeting players. Add in Wong, they targeted a contact oriented guy to try and balance the other guys. It was a good signing that worked. But of course he's been bad this series.

Something I didn't think of until Jace now is what about Jace/Escobar instead of Vogy? I assume the logic was it's early so don't use the more flexible defensive players like Jace or Escoboar. Generally get with the logic, but if you're deciding to get desperate, like they were, maybe its best to go all in and use your best hitter
