2021-10-03: Brewers (Anderson) at Dodgers (Buehler) [Brewers lose, 10-3 -- Bring on the Postseason]

Well, CC's approach the these last couple of weeks only matters if they aren't ready to play next weekend. If they aren't, it's certainly open to criticism. If they are, none of this matters.

Agree with this. They won their division and earned the right to give guys a decreased work load before the playoffs. If it doesn’t work then there will be plenty of opportunity to second guess, but for now it’s the way they decided gave them the best chance for success in the Postseason.

And we may never know what that locker room is like. Some of these arms might truly be out of gas and need a refresher to get ready for the playoff stretch. On top of that, we have guys like Wong, Adames, Yelich, Garcia, and Escobar that have all been banged up lately. On top of that, Rowdy and Vogelbach also got hurt and are coming back. I’m sure the thought is to get everyone as close to 100% and give it a go.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Swear word this approach. Hope the naysayers like me are wrong.

If it provides any solace, September results have minimal correlation with October results...

The same Brewers front office that made all the moves culminating in this team winning the 4th most games in MLB this year believes this is the best approach, because that's what the numbers support.

If the numbers supported September results having a strong correlation with October results, they would probably take a different approach.

I think everyone is concerned about how this team has looked lately. Even those saying they aren't, imo, are talking themselves out of it. I think it's completely possible, if not likely, they come out looking great on Friday. But it's hard to sit through the last 3 weeks and feel great.

After they clinched I couldn’t have cared any less if they lost every game. The only thing that mattered to me was them remaining healthy, and unfortunately that would’ve come true sans a total lack in good judgment from Devin Williams. And sure enough the only thing I’m now worried about altering their Postseason fate is their weakness in the middle-to-late relief innings.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Rowdy and Adames having some good at bats is refreshing to see over the last couple of days.

Say what you will about how big a deal it is (it is certainly not a very big one). But by coasting to the finish line and losing so many games the Brewers have now decreased their odds of home field advantage in the World Series.

We are better on the road anyways

But if we made the World Series I’d be fine If they played it on the moon

Same. But if they made the World Series and could have home field advantage or not, I’d prefer they do.

Yankees have second and third with 1 out in the bottom of the 9th in a 0-0 game. Do the rays just let them have it so they can avoid extra innings?

Well, one more reason to root against the Astros in the Postseason, I guess. That is the one slightly disappointing aspect of losing these games, but I would assume that’s the furthest thing from the team’s minds at this moment.

Per Jeff Passan…

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts says first baseman Max Muncy is “very unlikely” to play in the NL wild card game and, if they advance, “unlikely” for the division series as well.

While the Dodger won the game, losing a .900 OPS bat on the last day of the regular season is certainly a blow.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

I feel for Muncy but do not feel for a franchise that just buys whatever they need. A good reason why it is tough for me to really want the Brewers to be full speed ahead here lately.

When somebody gets scherzer and trea turner at the deadline without giving up any major league assets in return that just isn’t right. It completely skews the competitive balance for that year

Maybe make the trade deadline the end of may and be done with all this tanking nonsense

Play with the team you got and improve it in the off-season

If you were in the Dodgers place and had the assets they had would you do it any differently?

Not saying I disagree, I do in fact agree, but to me the problem isn't the Dodgers, it's the system that allows them to do what they do.

100% agree.

Been saying for years (mostly about the Yankees, now the Dodgers) that if these teams aren't breaking any league rules, how can we blame the teams?

They are doing what is allowed, it's not a "team" issue, it's a "league" issue.

Growing up the Dodgers were always my second favorite team. I hold no ill will against them specifically as I completely agree that it is the system that is broken. I just don't feel bad for their franchise when something doesn't go their way. If this was the Rays, I'd feel pretty bad for them. The Dodgers, I do not.
