The AAA Nashville Sounds, who are undefeated thus far (5-0) in the AAA Final Stretch, travel to face the Indianapolis Indians (Pirates’ affiliate) this week. The team welcomes Rowdy Tellez for a rehab start, while Josh Lindblom once again gets the first start in the series (5.0 innings, 2 ER, 6 Ks last week):

Clippers Stun Sounds 5-4 in Extra Innings

A veteran-laden Sounds squad (no Turang or Feliciano in the lineup) rolled along through 8 innings, leading 4-1 before giving up 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th and losing on a walk-off error in the 10th. The team had scored 4 in the 4th inning on the back of 6 singles and had All-World Closer Luke Barker on the mound in the 9th when things fell apart (a single and 2 homers). Josh Lindblom had been well-positioned for the win.

 

Dahl - 3-3, walk, 1 RBI

Maile - 1-3, HBP, 1 RBI

Tellez - 1-3

Lindblom - 5.0 innings, 1 ER, 8 Ks

Hardy and Sobotka 3.0 innings, zero runs, 3 Ks

 

First oddity: Sadzeck took the loss despite recording two strike outs (one reached via wild pitch) and a fielder's choice grounder to short, with no batter reaching base on a walk, hit or HBP.

 

Second oddity: David Dahl was thrown out two times by outfielders when going for 2nd base (2nd inning tag-up, 8th inning single).

Tough loss. Too bad, I was really rooting for them to continue their 10 game closeout stretch with a 10-0 record! LOL. Oh well. They surely had the odds in their favor. Sometimes, it just doesn't work out.
