There is no way they put JBJ on the roster for any reason related to his salary. I am pretty confident they are smart enough to not have that be any part of the consideration. If they put him on the roster, they want his baserunning and defense.

He doesn't even seem to be that good of a baserunner.

I won't complain if he's on the roster, he's so good at defense that he's managed to cancel out almost all of his negative offensive value with his glove. And I haven't forgotten about Kotsay.

Mikolas questioning in his interview why the roof isn't open as we all do many times a year.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I think Uecker's audio is about 2 seconds ahead of the video.

It wasn’t like that before, then it was. Then there was a repeat of a line and now it sounds like it’s a split second behind.

They must try to reset the synching every so often.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

They must reset it every commercial break, because I notice they always cut to the YourTube commercials, and sometimes the radio broadcast comes back from break at a different point than the TV broadcast.

Houser has been very good in the rotation this year. I was huge on getting him back to the pen and I'll gladly say I was wrong there. BUT, I wouldn't mind seeing him in the pen come the post-season. I would go with him and Ashby as your long-men with Burnes, Woody, Peralta, and Lauer as your starters.

JBJ may have just gotten officially knocked off the postseason roster if he wasn't already.

I was just going to post the same thing.

Taylor absolutely should be on the roster over JBJ especially with the lack of good righty bench bats.

JBJ offers defense and baserunning but it's just not enough. If our CF was a liability it would be enough but we have Lorenzo Cain. JBJs bat is just too poor for the things he does well to make up for it.

Regarding the base running thing, Tyrone Taylor is significantly faster than JBJ according to Statcast’s sprint speed. Taylor (28.6 feet per second) is in the 87th percentile of sprint speed while JBJ (27.2 feet per second) has been in the 55th percentile among all MLB hitters this year.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

I agree with this premise. Going 6 deep with quality starter types is a huge luxury. Lauer certainly hasn't done anything to show that he doesn't deserve a postseason start, either. Between Houser and Lauer, I would think Houser would be the better one out of the pen, too. Plus having two multi-inning lefties in Ashby and Lauer in the pen, not to mention Suter, may be a little redundant.

Agreed. I think it makes a lot of sense to have a lefty start, and Lauer has been great. Houser is a guy who all year I've considered to be a post season bullpen weapon. That's taking nothing away from what he's done this year.

This was also my thought. I think your pen is more versatile with Houser and Ashby versus Ashby and Lauer.
