JBJ may have just gotten officially knocked off the postseason roster if he wasn't already.

I was just going to post the same thing.

Taylor absolutely should be on the roster over JBJ especially with the lack of good righty bench bats.

JBJ offers defense and baserunning but it's just not enough. If our CF was a liability it would be enough but we have Lorenzo Cain. JBJs bat is just too poor for the things he does well to make up for it.

He'll be on it. Counsell loves defensive replacements. I'd guess Anderson misses out. I would be surprised if we didn't go with 5 OF on the NLDS roster.

Alright should be safe watching this game and partaking in the IGT. Afternoon game, on Youtube...should be calm in here.

Hopefully we win so everyone can back off the ledge.

Pretty sure everyone would be thrilled with the situation if you said it was going to happen like this back in May.

As a snapshot it would look great. But you can’t separate the snapshot from the circumstances leading up to it.

I can understand that some people can look at this and say it is over, so no reason to be concerned about anything. But I don’t understand why those people are bothered so much that others look at it differently.

I watch sports the same way I played them. I played hard until the game was over. Letting up with a big lead and then trying to rev up again when things got closer never seemed like a good idea.

Because the viewpoint in this case is 100% illogical. You continue to suggest that an outcome that has never come close to happening in the long history of Major League Baseball has a legit shot of happening here. I know you are not into trends, probabilities and analytics, and are more a "go with your gut" type, but you really can't ignore the numbers when they are so, so close to certainty. That said, I totally agree with the frustration. But the fear is unfounded.

JBJ's only real value comes as a defensive replacement, that's the one thing he does better than anybody else (except maybe Cain). What worries me is if you bring him in late for presumably Yelich, if that late lead is blown, now you have JBJ taking big ABs instead of Yelich. Obviously Yelich has had his struggles but still that's not what you want. Sure you could then pinch hit for JBJ if that occurred, but now your back to square one.

There comes a point, no matter what your positives are, that you have to be able to offer SOMETHING on offense. Even if JBJ were just a .650 OPS guy we probably wouldn't even be having this discussion. As it is you might as well have Brent Suter pinch hit late in a game in extra innings and that's just too much of a liability for limited roster space.

Cain is a risk though because of the injury factor, but you have to keep him, obviously.

I'd take Taylor over JBJ every single time. Not even close, but there is no way we are paying JBJ 12 million to not even be on the roster. JBJ's offense has been severely over rated too.

Same can be said about Yelich, who has offered basically nothing the last 2 seasons. Who would you rather have at the plate in a playoff game, Yelich or TT? TT or JBJ?

These guys are playing harder than anyone in the history of MLB. That's the problem. Nobody ever told them to let off this gas in the last week, but they see the standings and the playoff odds like the rest of us and it just happens subconsciously. And you immediately start getting beat when that happens.

The White Sox have been playing .500 ball for months. The Rays have been .500 for the last month. The Astros were cruising and briefly had the division lead cut to a couple games at the start of August. The only good teams that aren't in cruise control are the Dodgers and Giants. Can LA and SF keep the pedal to the metal for another 6 weeks? History suggests otherwise...and hopefully the well-rested Brewers will be the beneficiary.

There is no way they put JBJ on the roster for any reason related to his salary. I am pretty confident they are smart enough to not have that be any part of the consideration. If they put him on the roster, they want his baserunning and defense.
